* GeniusBonus: Just like the original, many locations of Cvstodia are modelled after real-life places in Andalusia (Spain). For example, Two Moons is an almost exact recreation of the Alhambra of Granada: the early, large room where the Penitent One has to fight several waves of enemies is a reproduction of the Court of the Lions, and its real-life centrepiece, the Fountain of the Lions, appears as the fountains used to travel to the mirror world.

** [[MagicKnight Eviterno, First of the Penitents]], [[spoiler:is perhaps the first ever follower of the Grievous Miracle. With his Penance of eternal waiting, Eviterno seeks a chance to revive the High Wills and unleash the Grievous Miracle back upon Cvstodia. As the [[BigBad leader]] of the [[CoDragons Archconfraternity]], Eviterno slaughters anyone opposed to him, including defeating the Penitent Cristana and provoking her suicide to reawaken the Penitent One before Eviterno can revive the worst age of Cvstodia]].

* EvenBetterSequel: Most criticism of the original ''Blasphemous'' praised the art, tone, and oppressive feel of Cvstodia but was harsher on the Metroidvania gameplay. This game retains all the strengths of the original, but really dials down on improving the moment-to-moment gameplay. This encompasses both the expansion of the weapon system and adding in many AntiFrustrationFeatures. The most obvious is that platforming over spikes no longer instantly kills the Penitent One, to the point that an Achievement was added to call attention to it.

* {{Tearjerker}}: The entire finale of the Secret Ending is a rollercoaster of tears. [[spoiler:Devotion Incarnate simply accepts that his presence is unwanted and he dies in solace of that. ''The Grievous Miracle is dead''. The Penitent One then gets taken in both body and soul to his true final rest, going beyond the Dream and into what appears to be the world's version of ''Heaven''. But he isn't alone here. We're greeted with ''everyone'' who the Penitent One has aided or helped throughout the games! In particular; Redento, Regula, and Nacimiento has found their rest and reprieve of the Miracle's cruelty. [[TogetherInDeath Esdras and Perpetva are together again]], and even beings thought to be denied their final rest like Soledad and Tentudia are present as well!]]
