** “The Guyver” is surprisingly sad, as Sage practically goes into coddling territory with Critic trying to prove he's not evil, but Critic constantly being a dick. It doesn't even end well, as Critic leaves angry and Sage ends up depressed.

** He spends a lot of the ''ViolenceJack'' review in a state of anguish over the fact that the show is pretty much impossible to review, but he feels that he owes the fans a real review. Watching him drive himself into a really quite horrifying state would make anyone
depressed.

Added DiffLines:

* BrokenBase: Over the ''ViolenceJack'' review: on the one hand, there's quite a few fans who think that the video was great; that it managed to review the show even without showing it and while not being anything like a normal review; and who agree that the show itself is very hard to review and even harder to watch. On the other hand, there's also some fans who are angry that they waited six months and were continually given teasers for a review that isn't actually a review; who question why, of all the grotesque and obscene anime Bennett has reviewed, that ''this'' is the one he won't do; who think that he made the video far too long (thirty minutes) when it could have easily just been ten minutes long; and who think that Bennett needs to just do his job and review it.

* NightmareFuel: Most of "Top Ten Most WTF Music Videos."
** His description of [[FridgeHorror how it would feel to be Ishtar when she first woke in Hibiki's apartment]] in ''MacrossII'' is this, especially when he starts emphasizing the sexual assault undertones.
** At the end of his DevilMan review, he holds up an uncut copy of ViolenceJack before deciding not to review it, presumably because of too much Gorn and Squick. He is shown throwing the videotape off of a bridge in disgust, but there's still about a minute or so left in the video...[[spoiler: we are then treated to footage of [[SealedEvilInACan a small chest]] in a dark room prying itself open, glowing red light shining through the cracks while horrible screams are heard in the background. The chest opens and the words "VIOLENCE IS COMING" in red, bloody font appear on the screen]]. Perhaps he may end up reviewing it after all...
*** And later we find out that {{Marzgurl}} apparently watched it... and the results ain't pretty...

* NostalgiaFilter: He seems to have a mild one. At the end of the ''MacrossPlus'' review, he gives a long spiel about how the genre of anime as a whole has taken a sharp decline in quality and that shows praised as the benchmarks of quality in today's market, while good, are nowhere near the level of the aforementioned ''Plus'' or other "classics" of the medium.

* HePannedItNowHeSucks: At the start of his GraveOfTheFireflies review, he makes it clear he's fully expecting this when he says he doesn't like it.

** His creepiness passes into this in some of his cameo appearances. When he teams up with Nostalgia Critic to review ''Starchaser'', the Critic is terrified of him, and by the time the intro is over, you'll understand why.

Besides the realization he's got nothing left to say about the movie (which you can see at SugarWiki/HeReallyCanAct), you got him regretting not being able to play Little League and do something worthwhile in his life. It's... heartbreaking to say to least.

-->'''Sage:''' ''(Gesturing to the movie)'' This?
-->'''Mark:''' DIDN"T HAPPEN!
