* MagnificentBastard: [[ConsummateProfessional Floyd Lawton]], aka Deadshot, is a highly efficient [[ProfessionalKiller assassin]] and [[ImprobableAimingSkills master marksman]] whose primary desire is to be reunited with his daughter. Employed by Amanda Waller as the leader of Task Force X, aka the ComicBook/SuicideSquad, Deadshot organizes an infiltration of Arkham Asylum to acquire stolen information from [[Characters/BatmanArkhamSeriesTheRiddler the Riddler]]. Throughout the mission, Deadshot displays his cunning and tactical genius as he repeatedly improvises when faced with numerous setbacks by his more reckless and untrustworthy allies, Batman and the Joker, and even fearlessly stares down the latter at gunpoint and bluffs him into wasting his only bullet. Managing to escape via helicopter in the midst of a prison riot while his allies are either killed or detained, Deadshot then single-handedly defeats the Joker in combat, withstanding multiple near-fatal injuries in the process. In the end, Deadshot achieves his goal of reuniting with his daughter, and spends the last few moments of the film scoping Amanda Waller a distance away with a sniper rifle, intent on making her pay for using him.

* WTHCastingAgency:
** Even beyond the "TheyChangedItNowItSucks" reactions to certain recasting, fans still took issue with both Creator/NealMcDonough and Matthew Grey Gubler in the respective roles of Deadshot and the Riddler.
** Many fans found Matthew Grey Gubler to be too low-key and too young-sounding as the normally energetic and older Riddler.
** Some people took issue with Creator/NealMcDonough as Deadshot, after it turned out that Deadshot's normal voice actor in the games, Creator/ChrisCox, was present -- itself a part of a huge example of this trope within the greater ''Arkham'' series (namely, the series' inability to keep a consistent voice actor for Jim Gordon).
** Creator/HyndenWalch managed to avoid this for the most part after the movie came out, in large part due to [[WesternAnimation/TheBatman having played Harley before]] and likely, that like Gubler replacing Creator/WallyWingert (and unlike [=McDonough=] replacing Cox), Creator/TaraStrong wasn't present.

* EvilIsSexy:
** ComicBook/HarleyQuinn is a serial killer voiced by Hynden Walch, who makes her even more seductive than her previous portrayal on ''WesternAnimation/TheBatman''.
** [[AnIcePerson Killer Frost]] is a ruthless criminal, but is very beautiful. Even some guards in-universe are taken off guard by just how attractive she is. ** Let's not kid ourselves, Troy Baker's spot-on impression of Mark Hamill's Joker is what truly drove people to see this movie.
** That and it's one of the few DC Animated films centered on the villains. Regardless of Batman's appearance.

* SignatureScene: The prison break action scenes with the other Arkham inmates near the end.

* SpiritualAdaptation: In many aspects this is more a ''ComicBook/SuicideSquad'' movie than a ''VideoGame/BatmanArkhamSeries'' movie. It has ties to ''Videogame/BatmanArkhamOrigins'', but [[WordOfGod according to the filmmakers]] it takes place between ''Origins'' and ''Videogame/BatmanArkhamAsylum'', although in that instance some of the character choices become a little curious, given the lack of Deathstroke or Copperhead, who -- in addition to Deadshot -- would be some of the more likely candidates for a group like this (especially in Deathstroke's case [[spoiler:since TheStinger for ''Origins'' had Waller recruit him[[note]]though according co-director Jay Oliva in the article for the film in the 2014 [[FanConvention Comic-Con]] ''Magazine/TVGuide'' special, Deathstroke somehow escaped from Waller[[/note]]]]). The Batman name does, however, appear to have been attached partly to make it sell, given DC/WB perceived the ''{{WesternAnimation/Wonder Woman|2009}}'' and ''WesternAnimation/GreenLanternFirstFlight'' animated features as relative failures.

* IdiotPlot:
** Let's face it. All Waller had to do was pay one of the guards off to [[spoiler: kill Riddler, or have one of the cooks slip some poison into his food. Not to mention it would have been ''easier'' to feign ignorance if it went south: claiming a random employee of Arkham did it because they had a grudge against an inmate wouldn't be a hard pill for anyone to swallow]]. She didn't need to call in Task Force X for this and have gotten many innocent personnel killed. As best put by Batman.

Tell them to kill Riddler and if they ask why say "because I'll blow your head off if you don't"-- it's not like she owes them an explanation or they have any say in the matter. It seems they would have had a much easier time simply getting to Riddler's cell than having to make their way to the evidence locker.]]
** Even further, if he figured out how to disarm ''those'' bombs, wouldn't it have been better to just devise new ones? It's not like Riddler is the only criminal mastermind running around.
