** Fugly Foom in general is a bit unnerving. While he's not exactly evil, he's clearly not completely all right in the head, and saw nothing wrong with kidnapping Babe to use in his shows and lying to Esme's face about her pet's whereabouts.

With the first film already regarded as a great movie, this would be Even Better Sequel, not Surprisingly Improved Sequel. However, Even Better Sequel is mutually exclusive with Contested Sequel, which is already on this page.

* ContestedSequel: To some, it's a terrible film that simply doesn't do the original justice because of how dark it is and because it takes Babe off the familiar farm setting. To others, it's a brilliant follow up to an already great film, and some people (including both Siskel & Ebert) thought it was even better than the original.

Not a YMMV.

* FootFocus: When Esmes clown suit has fully inflated there are multiple shots explicitly highlighting her bare soles in the rubber suit. Firstly when she falls over forward on the balcony and her feet cling onto the balustrade, the camera lingers on her bare rubber soles for a while. Likewise at the end of the ballroom scene when Esme is struggling to move around in the sea of balloons, the camera once again lingers on her feet pushing in and out of the suit as she tries to stand up.

* CrossesTheLineTwice: The increasingly humiliating situations Esme goes through as the plot advances. They can come across as a shock, especially to those who weren't expecting this type of comedy or tone in the sequel to the relatively grounded first film, but they're so cartoonishly over the top and exaggerated when compared to the rest of the movie that they become hilarious instead of genuinely offending.
