%%* PortingDisaster: While the UsefulNotes/NintendoSwitch version is an overall competent version of the game, it is widely considered to be the weakest version. While the Switch version being locked at 30fps (as opposed to the other versions' 60fps) isn't too much of a problem, what is a problem are random pauses during gameplay that can last up to a half-second. Additionally, the game tends to suffer from blurry visuals when in handheld mode.

* DifficultySpike: In the Road to Elite mode, several of the storylines can end with difficult boss fights. For example, in Block 2C, you will face [[spoiler: Pac]] which doesn't sound too hard, but then you find out that [[spoiler: the rest of Death Triangle interfere in the match, which makes it far more difficult.]][[note]]And don't even think about using weapons to level the playing field, as doing so will get you disqualified.[[/note]] As well, in Block 4C, you have to fight [[spoiler: both Young Bucks ''at the same time'', two highly rated characters, which is fairly difficult.]]

** In Block 4C, you have to fight [[spoiler: Paul Wight]]. This is difficult for a multitude of reasons. First off, [[spoiler: he's a super heavyweight, which makes grappling him borderline impossible. On top of that, he can no-sell your strikes. Furthermore, he can kick out of your finishers as though they were nothing. And worst of all, you only have ''three minutes'' beat him.]] To top it all off, [[spoiler: beating him is how you unlock him.

* SpiritualSuccessor: The game has been explicitly touted by the developers, specifically Wrestling/KennyOmega, as a successor to the AKI-produced wrestling games on UsefulNotes/Nintendo64 (with ''WWF No Mercy'' in particular getting mention), right down to its gameplay.

This was something I found out playing this match in RTE. I figured since Pac had the Lucha Brothers interfere with no repercussions, I thought I could equalize things by using a weapon. Nope! That got me disqualified.

* UnexpectedCharacter:
** The announcement of the late Wrestling/OwenHart being added to the game was a surprise to some since AEW didn't exist during his life. His inclusion was part of a partnership with The Owen Hart Foundation.
** AEW referee Aubrey Edwards was an unexpected inclusion in the roster since she hadn't wrestled a single match at the time of her announcement.
** Given that he had already left AEW for WWE the year prior, few if any were expecting Wrestling/CodyRhodes to be playable in the game, although it can be forgiven considering that he played a pivotal role in AEW's early years. [[note]]Consequently, this gave Cody the distinction of being the first wrestler in 24 years to be featured in two wrestling games from rival promotions within the same year, as he was featured in WWE 2K23 which had released three months earlier[[/note]]

-->'''Broken Matt Hardy:''' But you must ask yourself: "Which ''ME'' shall it BE?!"
** The final shot in the trailer has Broken Matt and his various children doing the "DELETE!" gesture, with this disclaimer on the screen:
