* AngryBlackMan: His debut was as part of the retinue of angry black lawyer Johnny Cochrane, and he was granted membership in the Nation of Domination when Farooq fired everyone ''except'' D'Lo. He'd drop the gimmick when he first turned face. In 2002 D'Lo began complaining about racism again and allied with former referee Wrestling/TeddyLong (who in turn dropped D'Lo for the darker skinned Rodney Mack after a couple months).

* AscendedExtra: He debuted during the Nation of Domination storyline as one of the nameless Black men in Clarence Mason's retinue wearing suits and kufe hats. While still a nameless extra he began getting involved in the matches and taking bumps, and acting as more of a bodyguard for Mason than a nameless extra. Then one day Farooq decided to clean house in the Nation. After firing Crush and Savio Vega, he said "D-Lo, hold the ropes." He then fired Clarence Mason and his entire retinue ''except'' for D-Lo, and granted D-Lo a place in the new Nation.

Beginning his career in Jersey, D'Lo was soon scouted by the then WWF while working for Wrestling/{{SMW}}. As time went on, D'Lo became an AscendedExtra in the Nation to the point where he was the only member [[Wrestling/RonSimmons Faarooq]] didn't fire after they failed him. He stayed a member until the stable's end in 1998, before becoming a successful singles mid-carder. In 1999, Brown took responsibility for crippling wrestler, Darren Drozdov in a match. After the incident D'Lo stayed in the lower mid-card for years until being released in 2003.
