The show is a notable spin on the universe, as it takes elements from nearly all that came before it, most strongly from the original series, while adding a somewhat edgier, more modern spin, with what you might call more ironic humor, as well as an on-going plotline. The show is aimed at an older audience than usual, and its general feel is more mature than the Scooby Universe usually gets, with lots of lampshade hangings, and ironic and sometimes darker humor -- in general, having fun with the conventions of the franchise.

Joking refs don\'t make a continuity link

* AlternateContinuity: Rather than follow in the footsteps of ''What's New, Scooby-Doo?'' or ''APupNamedScoobyDoo'', the show instead focuses on a new continuity that is still a continuation of the old show, but with a few differences. It is, however, in the same continuity as "The 13 Ghosts of Scooby Doo" and "Scooby Doo: The Movie" as Flim Flam is mentioned (he only appeared in the former) and Scrappy's betrayal is mentioned (He was the bad guy in the latter)
