** This trope is even in effect with FX's airing. Despite how much it retains, it swaps the f-bombs or outright cuts them, which ruins the pacing at time.

* BeaconOfHope: While everyone else is perverted, violent, and [[ClusterFBomb swearing up a storm]], Barry the hotdog is the innocent straight man of the pack, and is often bullied by other heroes and villains for it, until he finally stands up for himself and proves himself a worthy addition to the team.

** Ubiquitous amounts of it, as if to [[WhatDoYouMeanItsNotForKids subtly tip parents off that this isn't a movie for children]].

* AscendedFridgeHorror: As it turns out, being AnthropomorphicFood ''[[{{Understatement}} hurts]]''!

* Atop a Mountain of Corpses: Douche, who drank a lot of liquids from all the beverages he faced, including the dying grape juice box, the tequila, and the vodka.

* ObliviouslyEvil: Human beings aren't aware of food being sapient as mentioned in AlternateReality, so they've no idea how they've been torturing what they consider inanimate.

** The entire concept of "The Great Beyond" is very obviously meant to represent organized religion. The humans are referred to as gods who will take food to a glorious eternity, and many of them question this because of a lack of proof.

* BeliefMakesYouStupid: Averted. "The Great Beyond" is clearly a metaphor for religion, as it gives the foods a greater feeling of purpose so they won't live out their days in the supermarket in paranoid misery until they're ultimately bought and killed. Frank ignores the fact that this is literally all the food has ever known and initially fails to get them to believe him just by telling them that their beliefs are wrong.

* MoodWhiplash: The trailer starts out as lighthearted as any modern kids movie...until a potato's skin is violently skinned off.

* GettingCrapPastTheRadar: Inverted. The film gets away with a lot due to its rating, as much as the DoubleEntendre title, the first tip off that [[WhatDoYouMeanItsNotForKids it's]] ''[[WhatDoYouMeanItsNotForKids not]]'', [[WhatDoYouMeanItsNotForKids a kids' movie]].

* ADogNamedDog: Several characters, but three that stand out are Douche, Honey Mustard, and Gum.[[note]]Gum is technically a less accurate example though, since he has an OverlyLongName consisting entirely of his ingredients, but for expediency's sake, he is called "Gum".[[/note]]

* FlayingAlive: The Potato screaming in pain as his skin is peeled off.

* FantasticRacism: Sauerkraut is anti-semitic against juice.
** Halaal foods and Kosher fooda hate each other.

** Halal Foods are Muslims while Kosher Foods are Jews. And, of course, they don't get along unless Hummus is involved.

** Curry Jars are Indian.

* SelfDeprecation: At the end when [[spoiler:the food learn that they are cartoons, Firewater takes a jab at Seth Rogen, calling him a "demented schlubby Jewish actor", while Sammy asks who would give a child the "stupid cunt name" of Edward Norton.]]

* SubvertedKidsShow: This may at first glance appear to be your standard CGI film aimed at children, but it is made clear by the constant swearing, gratuitous sexual innuendos, and the violence inflicted upon the anthropomorphic food that this is not the case.

Directed by Greg Tiernan and Conrad Vernon (yes, [[WesternAnimation/{{Shrek2}} that]] [[WesternAnimation/MonstersVsAliens guy]]), it features an AllStarCast of Creator/SethRogen (who also serves as co-producer), Creator/KristenWiig, Creator/MichaelCera, Creator/JonahHill, Creator/BillHader, Nick Kroll, Creator/EdwardNorton, David Krumholtz, Creator/DannyMcBride, Creator/CraigRobinson, Creator/JamesFranco, Creator/PaulRudd, and Creator/SalmaHayek. It is yet another collaboration between Rogen and co-screenwriter and co-producer Evan Goldberg, and their eighth film with Creator/{{Sony}}.
