WebVideo/TwitchPlaysPokemon (TPP) is a series of social experiments that started in February 2014 in which commands representing buttons on an original Nintendo 3DS (up, down, left, right, A, B, X, Y, L, R, start) and touchscreen coordinates are entered into a chat on Twitch, and then translated into a game of Pokémon via an IRC bot. In short, thousands of people are fighting over a controller. Throughout its life, Twitch Plays Pokémon has spawned hilarious characters, memorable moments, a World Record, and even a few religions.

Twitch Plays Pokemon Omega Ruby, the tenth run of the series, is the first to launch simultaneously with the public release of the game being played, namely Pokémon Omega Ruby, the remake of Pokémon Ruby. Just about all players will be playing along on their own handhelds or experiencing the game for the first time through Twitch and at least the first few days will be both spoiler and strategy free except for carry overs from the original Ruby and Sapphire as these are remakes. Set in the Hoenn region, the run is sure to feature plenty of nods to the Emerald adventure while exploring new features on a real 3DS.

The run began on November 21, 2014, the same day Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire were released worldwide except for Europe. Champion Steven was defeated on November 28th, 2014, followed by a run of the postgame "Delta Episode" which was then completed on November 29th, 2014, with wifi-enabled postgame following.

----
!!Tropes found in Twitch Plays Pokémon Omega Ruby include:
* AnyoneCanDie: Right out the gate, especially compared to previous runs like Black 2 and X, which were successfully completed without releases. More than 4 major Pokemon were released before the end of the second day.
* AlternateTimeline: A common theory for when the game is placed on the "Twitch Plays Pokemon" timeline.
** Incidentally supported by the game, as seen here.
* AscendedMeme: In French translation of the game, Brawly seems to worship the Helix fossil.
* BeCarefulWhatYouWishFor: After two runs of forced evolutions and, and one with release coordinates disabled, people rioted for those to be removed... resulting in a PC massacre on the first day and pokemon being prevented from evolving.
* TheBusCameBack: After being absent from Pokemon Platinum to Pokemon X (except for Morty's Gym), Democracy Mode returns As in concurrent with Anarchy Mode, unlike WebVideo/TwitchPlaysPokemonConquest, an intermission game, were it was majorly played in Democracy Mode only. Like in [=HeartGold=], it is only used where democracy is absolutely necessary.
* DarkerAndEdgier: Even in comparison to the very first TPP! A Massacre Monday style event happens on the very day they started, one of the main Pokémon is nicknamed 'Satanbat' by the chat, and there seems to be a ReligionOfEvil forming around it, with people actually demanding PC sacrifices for it!
** Even before that happened, a Scarface-inspired mafia story was setting up as evidenced by the page image.
*** Then the Torchic and Beldum got released and the already Dark story turned Darker.
** Currently subverted however, as of Satan Bat release and other PC shuffles, all of Arty's team is full of cute and fluffy 'mons (with a fairy type to boot).
* EveryoneDies: Unlike the Pokemon X run, Deku (Twitch_Plays_3DS) didn't want to keep a save for this game. Once he was convinced to do so otherwise, he later Wonder Traded nearly all of Arty's team and [=PC=] Pokemon.
* HistoryRepeats:
** The Mob chose Torchic like A, boxed it at its second evolution like d, released a Pokémon for the first time since Black 1, and then released the Fire starter like Red, A, Napoleon, and GMYC.
** There's also another religion seemingly forming ala' The Holy Church of Helix, though this one seems to be a lot darker than that... See ReligionOfEvil below.
** A female Azumarill with "4" in the name, that knows Rollout, is now the dominant Pokemon in the party.
* NumberOfTheBeast: Has been typed many times by the Mob: at least four Pokémon had "666" in their nicknames, and it was even in !12rtyhaszs' response to an interview.
* ThePowerOfRock: "!" or "Exclamachu", the cosplay Pikachu obtained in Slateport City.
* ReligionOfEvil: One seems to be forming around "66666R", AKA "Satanbat". People have been demanding certain Pokémon be sacrificed to it, with the PC being it's domain, and Beldum, the so called eye of the streamer, has already been blinded by it, and the fire starter was sacrificed (AKA: Released) to it.
-->ヽ༼ຈل͜ຈ༽ノ SATANBAT DEMANDS A PC SACRIFICE ヽ༼ຈل͜ຈ༽ノ
** With Satanbat released, one now seems to be forming around the PC of all things, with people demanding blood sacrifices to it now. This has led to interpretations such as Satanbat possessed the PC when it was "released", to remain in control of the Dark Religion.
--> ヽ༼'ຈل͜ຈ'༽ノ PC DEMANDS A BLOOD SACRIFICE! ヽ༼'ຈل͜ຈ'༽ノ
* ReverseCerebusSyndrome: Due to various events happening in short notice, the run regressed its dark tones to a story about Arty and his fluffy team experiencing different personality styles.
* SomethingWeForgot: After defeating Maxie, Arty headed for Cycling Road, only to realize he didn't have a bike.
* StartOfDarkness: For the PC, if you place this run before Red in the timeline.
* TangledFamilyTree: Well, it's less tangled and more rife with EveryoneIsRelated, NamesTheSame and IdenticalGrandson, but it's still confusing.
* TimedMission: PlayedForLaughs. The chat was insistent into beating the champion before Europe gets their copies; they failed.
* TheUnintelligible: The player character's name is [=!12rtyhaszs=].
