In 2017, Gabbie turned her hand to writing. She released her first book of poetry, ''Adultolescence''. She also began to expand on a music career, releasing her first single, ''Out Loud''. In June, Gabbie joined the cast of ''WebVideo/EscapeTheNight'' for seven episodes and co-hosted Creator/{{MTV}}'s ''Series/TotalRequestLive'' in the October of 2017.
In 2018, Gabbie released her single, ''Honestly'' which acquired minor success in the US by reaching #21 in the charts and followed this with ''Monster''. In an interview with Genius' ''WebVideo/{{Verified}}'', Gabbie sang ''Monster'' acapella however her voice was not properly filtered due to technical errors. This resulted in fans splicing clips of the performance and it cultivating a meme status. Gabbie responded to this by creating merchandise showing her singing face.
The following year, Gabbie released her debut extended play, ''2WayMirror'' with her single, ''Medicate'' as the lead. She followed this up with ''Butterflies'', ''Perfect Day (A True Story)'' and ''Pillowcase''. In the November, Gabbie created a music video for her next single, ''Broken Girls''.
Her second ep was released in 2020 entitled, ''Bad Karma''. The lead single released in April called ''Dandelion'' and was followed by ''Glass House'' in May.
Gabbie's debut studio album ''This Time Next Year'' has had two singles released in 2020, ''Call Me Crazy'' and ''Shut Me Up''.
Gabbie has been involved with a number of controversies during her time online. In 2017, Gabbie attended a party that was also attended by fellow Website/YouTube creator, WebVideo/{{RiceGum}}. He is known for his diss tracks on his channel and Gabbie was shown on her Website/Snapchat trying to get RiceGum to take part in a rap battle. When he declined, it is alleged he smashed her phone when she continued to ask before leaving the party. Gabbie claimed that she was hit by him which he denied however he did pay for the broken phone.
Gabbie has also had issues with Website/YouTube star, Creator/TrishaPaytas. In November of 2019, Trisha made a video claiming that Gabbie had told her then-boyfriend, Creator/JasonNash that Trisha had herpes. Gabbie insisted that she had not done so in malice but out of concern for her friend, Jason.
Creator/JessiSmiles and Gabbie were previously friends back in the time of Vine. Jessi had been subject to an assault by Creator/CurtisLepore. Gabbie was accused of not backing up and supporting her friend and had actually been friendly with Lepore, even after the fact of knowing what he had done at the time. Gabbie has always insisted that she did not want to be associated with Lepore after finding out this information and has made multiple videos stating her stance.
