Originally having started out as a trolling group on Website/{{Newgrounds}} in 2005, by the time it migrated to [=YouTube=] in 2006, it evolved into an ever changing community of users, with several 'wars' within the community throughout the late 2000s to mid-2010s.

* {{Deconstruction}}: Compared to Website/GoAnimate, there's been very few attempts at deconstructing the usual Barney Bunch video formats:

** For some reason, Drew Pickles tends to be a lot of users' AuthorAvatar, and will like or dislike things depending on the video's maker. This leads to inconsistencies, like him being a fan of or hating ''Franchise/{{Halo}}''. Some users like Blood have been known to figuratively play jump rope with this trope, for example the now-terminated (and for good reasons, [[EveryoneHasStandards even by BB standards]]) [=DrewPicklesisSwell1957=], whose Drew Pickles commentary videos had him against things like Website/DeviantArt.

* GagDub: Even though most are unfinished, they include ''Anime/SonicTheHedgehogTheMovie'', ''WesternAnimation/RobinHood1973'', ''WesternAnimation/TheGreatMouseDetective'', and the most recent, ''WesternAnimation/TheRescuers''. * UnitsNotToScale: Drew Pickles' penis is supposedly 300 miles long. However, in some videos [[RuleThirtyFour where it is visible]], it appears to be much smaller.

The basis is to get a childhood cartoon character, food mascot, or celebrity (for example: WesternAnimation/{{Snagglepuss}}, [[UsefulNotes/GeneralMills Lucky the Leprechaun]], or Music/TheJonasBrothers) and make them talk about their extreme homosexuality. No information whatsoever is needed on the character, and not even '''[[VideoGame/BackyardSports Pablo Sanchez]]''' is immune. As a result, HilarityEnsues. No matter what your opinion is on the Bunch, whether you think they're a good StealthParody of exploitation of common gay stereotypes or just tasteless, you've seen at least one of their videos in your lifetime.

* FantasticRacism: The term "Unestablished", usually going to characters who are not part of the original canon. Blood is a notable detractor to this, stating in the comments of a (now lost video) that adding characters is okay as long as the user makes them count. By the time the BB hit [=VidLii=], the idea of established/unestablished characters appeared to be a thing of the past.

* ForcedMeme:

** The Betty Bunch, the lesbian counterpart to the Barney Bunch, rarely even show up in modern-day Barney Bunch videos, and when they do they are depicted as the VitriolicBestBuds of the Barney Bunch rather than enemies as they were originally depicted in older videos. Skewt and [=SavageBoy=] tried to HandWave this in their rendition of the [=BB=] universe by claiming they were completely wiped out by the Barney Bunch in war.
** Dick Pickles, Drew's African-American ChildByRape, has been phased out in favor of Drew Pickles Jr.
** TheBusCameBack: [=IronYoshi1212=]'s videos and ''The Great Speakonia War'' are more story and lore-driven, so these characters, especially Screw Pickles, Fatty Bear, and the Betty Bunch, are used more frequently (especially after Betty became canonically lesbian in ''WesternAnimation/Rugrats2021'').
