What used to be an entry for a contest for [=SpongeBob=] shorts became one of the most viewed videos of all time. So what do you do if it's popular? Make another one of course!
''[=SpongeBob=] in Real Life'' is about [=SpongeBob=] and his friends [[FishOutOfWater who get sent to the real world]] because of a remote. They have fun at first with their teenage friend, Jonathan, along with the rest of his pals. But when they find out [[Main/BigBad a CEO]], Damian Cooper, wants to destroy all cartoon characters, it's up to [=SpongeBob=] and his friends to [[Main/TheMultiverse save the multiverses.]] But aside all that, the friends go on the most unpredictable adventures you can think of.
The series was first made for a contest called [=SpongeBob=] [=SquareShorts=]. Jonathan sent in a video about [=SpongeBob=] and Patrick in the real world, which is basically the start of the entire series. He sent ''right'' after the deadline, so it didn't go in. But Jonathan decided to share it on Platform/YouTube because he was proud about his short, and soon enough it started gaining more views! And that was the start of the story.
