* JustForPun: In "Monkeys" there was a foreground poster of a rather suggestive “[[GoingCommando Bottomless]] Magazine”. [[spoiler: Also doubles as foreshadowing given that the monkey who took the girl's shotgun fired way too many rounds than a typical shotgun should have.]]

* AdultFear: Infant mortality, the end of the world, the death of a spouse, and losing your memories and becoming a present threat to the people you love, to name a few things.

* EverythingsBetterWithMonkeys: [[spoiler: The whole episode “Monkeys” is this, culminating in one saving the main character by SHOOTING ZOMBIES WITH A SHOTGUN!]]

The series is planned to have 25 episodes divided into three seasons, but development has been rather stagnant as Collins put the series on hiatus as of May 24, 2014 to focus on projects such as ''WebAnimation/KaizoTrap''. Currently, the series has 11 episodes as of May 28, 2017, with the development of episode 12 is currently in progress as of this writing. * AmbiguousSituation: Collins explained in the comments section in "Vacate"'s upload that the earthquake that [[spoiler:struck Perth during the episode was not a natural one, albeit one caused by a mysterious force from beneath the Earth. The city was also bathed in a mysterious gray light.]]
** Also from Collins, the reason the Commander plans to nuke Perth in "Razed" was not just to wipe out the zombie population, but also to take out "something else". Whatever it is has yet to be elaborated.

* CallForward: In episode 1, "Zombies", the girl is found inside a dumpster with a zombie lying beside it. [[spoiler:Episode 4, "Family", reveals that said zombie is her mother, who placed her there while succumbing to her infection.]]

* MoodWhiplash: Prevalent in Season 1. For example, episode 3 has monkeys handling shotguns, the episode 4 hits with [[spoiler:a flashback of the main character's parents' whereabouts.]]
* NoNameGiven: As with any animations Collins has made, chracaters were not given a proper name and he has described them with either a noun (the Girl), or via [[EveryoneCallsHimBarkeep their definitive traits]] (Zombie Mum and Dad, the Commander).

* NukeEm: [[spoiler: What the Commander plans to do to Perth from episode 5 to 7, much to his son’s objections. Luckily, it gets thwarted in "All Living Things".]]
* OurZombiesAreDifferent: While mostly they follow the traditional format [[spoiler: many zombies exhibit sad facial expressions, and don’t attack animals. The difference is greatly increased in Zombie Mom and Zombie Dad who seem to still retain their human consciousness and personalities.]]

* SplashOfColor: While the shorts are mostly monochrome, the zombies are given green skintones to differnate themselves from the living. Red is used to indicate blood and bits of orange are used to indicate heat. The main character's ribbon is colored pink.

The series focuses on a little girl’s journey with her mother through a post-apocalyptic world full of zombies. This series is done entirely in [[https://youtu.be/nKb4SSEIfik Adobe Flash CS3]] with episodes usually under three minutes, in monochrome and without dialogue.
