* CutShort: The series ended after the much-delayed Episode 8, which gives no resolution at all to Connor's character arc, given that [[spoiler:it's entirely composed of bizarre sex comedy verging on BlackComedyRape.]] Bung threw in the towel in the aftermath, leaving the saga with [[NoEnding no definitive ending]] and a ''lot'' of pissed-off fans.

* NumberOneDime: Played for BlackComedy at the beginning of "The Robot", when Connor is sent into [[EldritchLocation SCP-093]] to retrieve Dr. Wilson's favorite clipboard.
* AdaptationalWimp:
** Despite their power and resources, the SCP Foundation itself is portrayed as being much more dysfunctional and disorganized in this series, reflecting some of the sillier or more comedic incident reports and canons relative to the more serious ones.
** While she's still dangerous, Sanna (aka SCP-1836) was heavily implied to be the actual sea goddess of the same name from Inuit mythology in her SCP article. "The Girl in the Iceberg" doesn't necessarily imply a different origin for her, but also portrays her as being on death's door by the time Connor meets her.

* AnthropomorphicFood: In "Connor's First Christmas", Connor is sent to a house where a family of human-sized, living gingerbread cookies live. The gingerbread men even shove him into a magic oven and turn him into a gingerbread baby.
* ArbitrarySkepticism: Discussed in the fourth episode ("The Girl in the Iceberg"). As Connor points out, many people already believe in "ghosts, aliens, and [[{{UsefulNotes/Jesus}} resurrecting Jews]]"; yet the Foundation insists that he has to be kept inside the sealed, windowless trailer of a truck while being taken to the SCP-1836 containment site in Nunavut, just to hide him on the off-chance they crash and someone sees him resurrect. The agent assigned to supervise him (General Marcus) admits that "We can't hide them all."
* BadBoss: During the [=O5=] Council meeting, when O5-3 starts talking about Connor's therapy sessions, O5-1 ignores the part about how Connor has been used as the sole test subject at Site-95 for years, and how these sessions have been helping him keep it together. O5-1 says that signing off on funding mental health treatment for [=SCPs=] was "uncharacteristically thoughtful" of him, and holds a vote to defund this program in favor of hiring more security guards, to almost unanimous agreement from everyone besides O5-3.

* BunnyEarsLawyer: The SCP Foundation are portrayed as being [[AdaptationalComicRelief a lot more silly]] than they are on the SCP Wiki (usually, at least). Though despite the eccentricities and occasional incompetence from many of their personnel (even the O5 Council), they're still a very powerful organization that have somehow managed to keep the paranormal secret and prevent the world from being destroyed, even if they make a lot of dumb and deadly mistakes along the way.
* CatchPhrase: The D.I.N.G.U.S. personnel watching the surveilence room have "Dude, no way" and several punny variants.
-->Dude, no way
-->Dude, Norway?
-->Dude, no A.
* CallBack:
** Connor nervously repeats to himself "Walk in, ask questions, get out" during Episode 1 before he goes in to interview Ferdinand. Dr. Powers then nervously repeats to herself "Walk in, ask questions, ask him out" during the "Only Us" special (which is set between Episodes 2 & 3).
** Dr. Wilson, the doctor who sent Connor into SCP-093 to fetch his favourite clipboard in Episode 3, is seen in Episode 5 at Soulberg having [[FaceHeelTurn sided with the town's residents]].
* ChristmasEpisode: There's a Christmas special animated in {{Creator/LEGO}} StopMotion, where Connor gets to briefly experience what it is like to have a family.
* ConvenientlyInterruptedDocument: At the end of Episode 5, [[spoiler:Connor's SCP file is just one one big list of ''completely'' redacted lines (including his ID) with his face.]]
* CrapsackWorld: Although it's mostly played for irreverent BlackComedy and offbeat SurrealHumor, ''Confinement'' is still set within its own version of the chaotic {{Website/SCP|Foundation}} universe. So of course, the world is infested with all kinds of deadly monsters and other supernatural horrors, many of which are [[CosmicHorrorStory potentially apocalyptic threats to human existence]]. The [[WellIntentionedExtremist amoral and shadowy Foundation]] is [[LovecraftLite (just barely) able to keep the world safe]] by trying to capture every single anomaly they can find; including more benign or innocent anomalies like Connor, who are denied all rights to live in freedom just for being weird freaks of nature, and therefore inconvenient for the Foundation's {{masquerade}} of all things paranormal. [[spoiler:And while Connor himself isn't a bad guy, he's actually not as harmless as he appears to be; due to being the unwitting host for a very powerful and sinister EldritchAbomination, which is heavily implied to be attempting [[TheEndOfTheWorldAsWeKnowIt the destruction of our world]] if it ever gets the chance to do so.]]
* CruelAndUnusualDeath:
** Connor is subjected to this ''a lot''.
** [[spoiler:Mr. Pierce's death in Episode 3 is pretty horrific too, with his body being essentially ''melted'' into the doorframe before petrifying.]]
* ADateWithRosiePalms: Connor got over his depression over his mother's ParentalAbandonment when he learned how to masturbate. [[ThatCameOutWrong He quickly adds to Dr. Powers that he was]] ''[[ThatCameOutWrong not]]'' [[ThatCameOutWrong masturbating to the thought of his mother]].

This also means that while they're no longer trapped inside the IKEA dimension, they're all going to be contained inside the Foundation's secret facilities for the foreseeable future, if not the rest of their lives; and even if they were given any chance to leave or escape, they'd still be unable to ever enjoy normal lives in the outside world due to their extreme transformation.]]
* DidNotThinkThisThrough: SCP-1360 planned far enough ahead to get him and Connor in a situation where they'd be alone, but as Episode 3 comes to an end, it becomes clear that he doesn't have the technology to supplant Connor's consciousness with his own.
* DoomMagnet: This appears to be another facet of Connor's powers. While he himself cannot die, people and [=SCPs=] Connor comes into contact with tend to die with disturbing frequency.
* EldritchAbomination: This being the SCP Foundation, a bunch of these are bound to appear somewhere. [[spoiler:A ''very'' powerful abomination is implied to be the source of Connor's abilities.]]
* EmptyShell: Because of his powers, SCP-2200 cannot turn Connor into a resident of Soulberg. What it instead produces are empty husks that rain on the town.
* FantasticCasteSystem: Keter and Euclid SCP specimens/artifacts are given special (and oftentimes very large) restraining environments while the more benign prisoners are given much more cramped living quarters, although they do have relatively more freedom (though they cannot leave the facility either) to walk the compound. Connor himself has to share his room with two other test subjects. Though this is less because Keters and Euclids are treated ''better'' and more that they require more specialized facilities ''to contain.''
* FateWorseThanDeath: Connor would rather experience a potentially agonizing demise over listening to SCP-1846 drone on about farming corn.
* FemaleGaze: Dr. Powers blushes and averts her eyes when Connor strips in Episode 2.
* FunWithAcronyms:
** Mr. Pierce's "Department of Internal Negotiations Guild and Unanimous Settlements" (D.I.N.G.U.S.).
** The "Autocratic State of Soulsberg" (A.S.S.). Connor doesn't let that one pass him by.
-->'''Connor''' "Go deep in the A.S.S. and pull out the staff. Got it."

The [=O5=] Council in particular, seems to be more invested in making crude LOL69 jokes, and capturing non-anomalous stuff just to fill up their containment sites, rather than doing anything particularly effective; and when presented with a department that yields positive results by caring for [=SCPs=]' mental wellbeing, their response is to defund the program in favor of hiring more security guards instead.

* MagicPants: Connor's clothes typically regenerate with him when he dies. The only reason they don't at the end of Episode 2 is that Connor had taken his clothes ''off'' before dying.
* MesACrowd: A variation of this trope is used in the upcoming Episode 8; previews and teasers have revealed that the episode seems to be primarily set inside some sort of city inhabited by numerous clones or duplicates of Connor, who all look very different from each other. It's not yet known how exactly this city of Connors was created, but it's implied that they're all different versions of Connor after he was killed, maimed or mutated by various anomalies throughout his countless lives and deaths over the years.
* MistakenForRacist: The Foundation jumps to the conclusion that since the only survivors of SCP-1836 were of Inuit descent, then that must mean that Connor can approach her without fear because he's part-Inuit. He soon learns this is not the case when she and multiple instances of 1836-1 try to kill him. Sanna later explains that she only attacked fishing boats that failed to ask "permission" to hunt in her territory and that the racial link of the survivors was coincidental. [[note]]Well, maybe not coincidental, but more a case of Inuit sailors having traditions mandating that they ask for permission, something other races don't[[/note]]

* NakedPeopleAreFunny: In Episode 2, Connor succumbs to the effects of the Song of Genesis and starts to get an all over rash. In a futile attempt to remedy this, he ''[[RuleOfFunny of course]]'' strips naked.

* NoDialogueEpisode: "Connor's First Christmas" has no intelligible dialogue. If Connor is saying anything it isn't audible and the gingerbread people are only heard making quiet moaning and breathing sounds when talking, and the soldiers only make noises that sound like very distorted speech.
* ObstructiveBureaucrat: Averted. Dr. Wilson views his bosses at the Foundation as this, and hates them for it, but in reality they're doing logical stuff like refusing to let him send an entire Mobile Task Force into SCP-093 just to retrieve his favorite clipboard. He also claims that they do stuff like sip on champagne all day, when ''he's'' the one who does that, to the point that it's the only thing he has to drink in his office.

* ThePowerOfLove: Parodied during the "Only Us" special, with Dr. Powers and Connor's [[ShipTease sexual tension]] being powerful enough to return Connor's former psychiatrist from the Night Terror Dimension. Said psychiatrist believes the fact they were [[VirginPower both virgins might have had something to do with it.]]
* ResurrectiveImmortality: Connor has this, and it's referred to as regenerative immortality in the second episode. He still ages, but every time he's killed he just rematerializes next to his corpse.
* RightHandVersusLeftHand: The [=O5=] Council just groans when their liason brings up some complaints from the Ethics Committee, implying that they have this relationship.
* SelfProclaimedLoveInterest: Stanley is clearly in love with Stethoscope, and monologues to himself in his journal about how they are together and how her love is all that keeps him going. From the expression she gives him as he monologues this, her flirting with Conner, and the looks she gives him during the montage, it's quite clear Stanley is deluding himself.
* ShooOutTheClowns: [[spoiler:Mr. Pierce is killed by SCP-1360 in the middle of Episode 3, right before the episode gets surprisingly dark.]]

** The ending scene of Episode 1 showing the many different [=SCPs=] in their containment cells is more than a little similar to the famous sequence showing countless different prisons for the monsters from ''Film/TheCabinInTheWoods.''
** According to Episode 2, the music played on SCP-407 is [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4vgcYBwyw28 "It's A Fine Day" by Miss Jane]].
** While he's in the waiting room for the Robotics Center in Episode 3, Connor reads a magazine called "[[IncrediblyLamePun MCP Foundation]]," which has [[{{Film/Tron}} the Master Control Program]] visible on its cover.
** The mutated Venus flytraps [[FreezeFrameBonus often seen in the background of several episodes]] are designed after [[Theatre/LittleShopOfHorrors Audrey II]].
** In "Only Us," Connor fondly hopes that Gilbert's getting "mad {{Film/octopussy}}" after having escaped into the ocean. In the same episode, there's a drawing of [[EldritchAbomination Gilbert's mom]] that resembles [[{{Webcomic/Homestuck}} Gl'bgolyb]].
** During Episode 4, Connor is inducted into the mission concerning SCP-1836 with [[Film/MissionImpossible "Your mission, if you choose to accept it,]] [[LampshadeHanging (not that you have any choice)..."]]
** [[ColdHam Lou Francis Patterson]] in Episode 5 is shown wearing a shirt with the [[ComicBook/TheFlash Flash]] logo.
* SmugSnake: SCP-1360 believes that he is more deserving of Connor's gifts as he actually escaped his captors at Anderson Robotics, making him superior. [[spoiler:He soon learns that he was never really free.]]

** [[Series/ThePartridgeFamily "Come On Get Happy"]] plays in the first episode after Connor returns to his cell... and the camera pans up to show how many levels of cells the Foundation has for various low threat anomalous people, most of whom are completely innocent of anything beyond not being normal.
** "Come a Little Bit Closer" by Jay and the Americans plays while Connor is getting in a fight to the (kind of) death with SCP-1360 in Episode 3. It also doubles as a bit of a VillainSong given how it compliments SCP-1360's stated goals.
** The trailer for Episode 5 has the jaunty (and oddly appropriate) "Turn to Stone" by Music/ElectricLightOrchestra playing over footage of the citizens of SCP-2200-3 violently rebelling against the SCP Foundation and putting up a barricade.
** "Fine and Dandy" is a music video that's chiefly composed of footage from past episodes until the very end, which shows Connor as the SoleSurvivor of a mass containment breach that's resulted in the deaths of all the other anomalies and SCP staff in the building.
* StockholmSyndrome: Dr. Powers seems to imply that Connor has this at the end of "The Singing Forest", noting that he expressed happiness at the idea of escaping when the possibility was given to him, then started denying said happiness when the window of opportunity closed.
* StopMotion: The Christmas episode is animated using {{Toys/LEGO}}.
* SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome: The "Connor vs. SCP-682" video features Connor being swiftly eaten by SCP-682. Connor may have regenerative immortality, but there isn't much he can do to a giant, indestructible, rapidly-adapting lizard monster who's much stronger and even more unkillable than he is.

* TakeThat: In "The Singing Forest", Connor is told that the music of SCP-407 (the Song of Genesis) will kill him at least once during testing. Connor snarkily asks if it's Music/EdSheeran (singer of the hit song "Shape of You", which came out earlier that year in 2017).
