Sans a few (like the above, etc.) most have plenty of room to have regular-ish names or are in positions where a regular name would make ''more'' sense (for example, Wham-Shell's father is named "Roland" so it would be very jarring to have his son be given an abnormal name). I can see that being the case for a good amount of them. Plus, not using your real name when dealing with evil forces is always a plus.

Given that their battle cries have an in-canon explanation as being Skylander tradition, it wouldn't be surprising if their names were chosen upon entry to the Skylanders too.

Kaos's abilities fit the Magic element. A last minute element switch would also explain why in the final game Magic is the only element with less than four villains and no doom raider. As for why this switch was made, the boring but logical answer is that the developers knew it would mean more money. The Magic trap was cheap and easily found. The Kaos trap was more expensive.

And in the final levels of ''Trap Team'' and ''Imaginators'' he just challenges you to a ''completely optional'' game of Skystones Smash or Creation Clash and he actually enjoys playing with the Skylander.
