[[Cheryl's mom died, and this is the reason for her deviant behavior.]]

It makes sense. We know Skip is her dad, but we have never seen her mom, nor has she been mentioned. So, perhaps her mother died, and that is what set Cheryl on her path of bad behavior: vaping, hanging out with Vicky and her trashy friends, and even hitting on her cousin Andrew. Like, maybe her father neglects her since her mother died, she what Cheryl REALLY wants is somebody to pay attention to her, somebody REAL, not Vicky or her school friends, but somebody who actually LOVES her. She believes Andrew could be that person, seeing as he's family, and they used to hang out as kids, playing games and taking baths together, but in her grief and confusion she confuses these desires with SEXUAL feelings. I mean, Skip CERTAINLY doesn't seem like the ideal dad: I mean, look what he did with his own FATHER'S body. I certainly wouldn't count on him to care much about his daughter if he couldn't be bothered to properly get his father safely to his funeral. Plus in Florida he hit on his own brother's wife, while belittling Marty. So, in other words, her mom's death, as well as being neglected by her own horrible dad, is what set Cheryl off on this path.

* Both of the major characters, Nick and Couch Steve, we have seen with Rick as their Hormone Monster has had something wrong. Coach Steve seems to have a number of issues including a birth defect of his sexual organ which, while treated at 4, likely had long-lasting reproductions. Nick likewise seems also to possibly have issues. He is very short of his age and it's implied that his reproductive organs are taking a long time to mature. It's possible that Nick has a Testosterone Deficiency.

* Shannon and Greg's relationship doesn't appear to get much better or worse in Season 4, as they're able to cooperate to help Jessi after learning how depressed she is. It is true that Jessi's mental health worsens during Season 4 as the Depression Kitty returns and the Anxiety Mosquito debuts, but she never gets to the point of contemplating suicide. It's also shown in Season 4 that her dad's place isn't perfect for her either, even if it's better for her than New York City.

* Jossed. The only character to get a redesign is Missy, which is less because of her age and more a reflection of her independence and emotional maturity.

* Nick and Jessi may seal the deal, as will Andrew and Missy, plus Matthew and Aiden, which leads to the biggest tearjerking moment in the series where Maury and Connie will no longer be able to communicate with them since their work is done (Rick stopped being Steve's Hormone Monster after he slept with Jay's mom), but somewhere down the line, they may communicate with them as ghosts the way Maury can still talk to Duke.

The Kitty will come for all the students like the Shame Wizard did. The difference is, rather than attacking everyone at one like Shame Wizard did, the kitty will show up at least once during someone's life, some will be hit harder than others. Going with an earlier theory, Andrew could be the Kitty's next victim, but Nick, Missy, or Jay could be affected in some way as well. The Kitty could be visible to some adults as well, especially those who have chronic depression.

[[folder: Various Hormone Monster Theories]]
* It's implied that Hormone Monsters usually leave after their human loses their virginity. However, if their person has sex before they're 18, they may stick around until they turn 18. Basically, the monster has to leave which ever comes last, their person losing their virginity, or turning 18. But it also depends on the person as well.
* Humans, more often than not, don't remember having their monster when they leave, or if they do, they would remember them as like a weird imaginary friend, or a character they made up.

In "Rankings", Matthew brings Aiden to Devin and Devon's wedding as his plus-one. Seeing this, Caleb remarks "I don't like Aiden." This seems unusual, as the statement comes out of nowhere and Caleb doesn't typically express his feelings. It's possible that over the course of their rather peculiar friendship/working relationship on the morning news, Caleb has developed romantic feelings for Matthew, but is unable to express them due to his limited social skills. Seeing Aiden with Matthew makes Caleb jealous of the former, inspiring a feeling of loathing. It is also worth noting that the costume Caleb draws for Matthew's superhero persona, "The Harmonizer", is a skintight unitard that features a nipple-baring tanktop. In "Supermouth", he claims to be recording the sizes of every penises he's seen, which may indicate an undeclared homosexuality on his part.

Early in season one, when they bothered to depict the 8th graders in the school, the older kids were noticeably taller and further along in puberty. It seems likely that they will need to redesign the characters to reflect the physical changes of puberty since, unlike many TV shows set in schools, the characters' ages are explicit, as is what grade they are in, and older kids are not depicted as being of a common ambiguous age with the main characters as happens a lot (e.g. DawsonCasting).

* Still to be determined. Andrew just broke off his friendship with Nick, and he is not very popular on his own. Missy is well and truly over him. Jessi will be moving away if her mother can sell their house. That leaves Jay as the last remaining member of their circle of friends who might still hang out with Andrew. It's not even clear if the Jazz Club will stay together, given Missy's parallel breakup with Lars and Andrew's antagonistic relationship with Caleb.

In season 3, Greg is clearly shown to be taking much greater responsibility with his life after he and Sharron divorce while, inversely, Sharron is becoming less and less emotionally stable due to her confused feelings about both her sexuality and Greg. Most would agree Jessie would be better living with Greg, but it's obvious Sharron hates him too much to even consider it and the thought of him taking Jessie away from her would [[TheLastStraw push her over the edge]]. The result will be an absolutely horrific ''Film/KramerVsKramer''-style custody battle where Greg is clearly the better-suited guardian but has to fight the DoubleStandard of single fathers, while Sharron, knowingly or not, is using Jessie as leverage against him. Once again, their efforts to do what's best for Jessie end up making everything worse for her, and Jessie will be so traumatized by the whole thing that Depression Kitty will resume control over her life stronger than ever, to the point that Jessie may actually come close to [[DrivenToSuicide becoming a statistic]] due to herdistrust every single adult who'd try to talk her out of it by that point (it could even lead to a darkly funny ShoutOut to another Creator/{{Netflix}} show when someone tries to talk Jessie out of suicide: "Give me one- No, give me [[Series/ThirteenReasonsWhy thirteen good reasons why]] I shouldn't!" And Jessie ''would'' eventually be talked out of it, as this isn't the kind of show that's willing to get that bleak).

[[folder:Jessi will develop feelings for Matthew]]
It's not uncommon for straight women to develop close, almost intimate friendships with gay men, and Jessi and Matthew seem to be heading that way since spending Valentine's Day together. Plus, she's at an awkward age, and even though things with her home life seem to be improving, she's got a lot of personal issues to work through. So, maybe she'll end up falling for Matthew, since he's a source of comfort and hanging out with him is a lot less complicated than say, hanging out with Nick or Jay. Of course, Matthew won't reciprocate, because he's gay (and will maybe be hanging out with the other gay kid he met at Walmart).

[[folder:Andrew Will Get Worse Before He Gets Better]]
After the Valentine's Day debacle, Andrew is going to have to face even more humiliation at school than ever before since so many kids recorded what happened at Lola's party. Worse, Nick's new Hormone Monstress is Connie. When Connie was with Jessi she encouraged her to throw unpopular Missy under the bus in order to win favor with popular Devin. She is similarly likely to push Nick to start avoiding Andrew. Missy was greatly disturbed by how Andrew treated her and outraged by what Andrew did to Lars. So she is unlikely to forgive him quickly. Jessi was likewise appalled. Finally, his baldness is going to attract a lot of mockery. Andrew is likely to be very angry and isolated, which will lead to even worse behavior. It has been shown many times that Maury has little ability to restrain Andrew's worst impulses. At best, the Shame Wizard (who at least likes him) will nonetheless be preying on his mind. At worst, the Depression Kitty may enter his life.
