* Shoutout: In "Dragonfly Dojo" two of the dragonfies are named ''Rashomon'' and ''Yojimbo''.

* LoadsAndLoadsOfLoading: One of the game's most notorious faults. You know it's bad when the loading screens have loading screens.

* BreakoutVillain: Marks the first instance a previous BigBad resumes the role, Ripto would repeat this for several portable titles afterwards, with Gnasty Gnorc and the Sorceress mostly being {{Demoted To Extra}}s.

* ObviousBeta: Freeze during load screens, some GameBreakingBugs and more, the PS2 version is particularly bad.

* UnexplainedRecovery: Ripto, Crush and Gulp are all alive... somehow.
** However, the epilogue to Ripto's Revenge featured all three being alive, although not that it actually explained things either.

* VillainDecay: Ripto is nowhere near as competent or threatening in this game as he was in Spyro 2. It takes half the game for him to figure out that his spell didn't go as planned!
* VocalEvolution: Pamela Hayden's voice for Bianca is a lot more high pitched and cheery than before, in contrast to her original deeper LittleMissSnarker one.

** Bianca, despite appearing in the opening cinematic, shows up only one other time at the beginning of the game and is never seen again.

* MissionPackSequel: ''Enter the Dragonfly'' is to the Spyro games what ''[[Videogame/CrashBandicootTheWrathOfCortex The Wrath of Cortex]]'' was to the ''Franchise/CrashBandicoot'' games.
* ObviousBeta: Hoo boy... Glitches are littered practically ''everywhere'' in this game. How this got past focus testers, we'll never know.
* OffModel: All the characters look as if they were made out of Play-Doh, and none of them have any teeth for some reason. Everyone stretches and bounces about while talking, as if they were made of rubber. [[NightmareFuel It can actually be rather disconcerting at times.]]
