In September 2018, ''Onechanbara: Origin'' was announced for a 2019 release in Japan exclusively for the [=PS4=], with a western release confirmed for an unspecified release window. It is a remake/reimagining of the original [=PS2=] games, fusing the two titles into one and adding new features.

* CastFromHitpoints: Vamp Skills in Z are skills that you obtain from draining the blood of bosses that decreases hitpoints when used. Fortunately, they do not decrease the maximum recoverable HP, so using Blood Recovery to regain lost HP is simple, if time-consuming.

* DeadlyUpgrade: The "Baneful Blood" curse induces a [[UnstoppableRage rage-like state]] when they come in contact with zombie blood. It greatly increases their strength and agility, but slowly burns away at their life force until they die. Under certain conditions, a second, more powerful rage state can be induced.

** Subverted in Onechanbara Z. The new duo main characters never conclusively defeat Aya or Saki, and they are never playable. That is, until the Aya & Saki DLC came out.

Even when the story mode of ''Onechanbara Z2: Chaos'' begins (when the attack of the new villains force the feuding sisters into TeethClenchedTeamwork, all of them (well, all [[MartialPacifist except for Saaya]]) [[SnarkToSnarkCombat take every chance they have to trade insults and wisecracks at each other's expense]]

* InfoDump: Quite unfortunately, most games often dump text as plot rather than integrating it to the gameplay. It isn't until Z that they tried something different and they still did ended up doing a text dump in the middle of the game. To be fair, with the exception of Z, Onechanbara games really were budget games, and so most resources went into the gameplay and not plot. [=VorteX=] and Revolution can really be adequately summed up as an interactive novel interspersed with bikinis, zombies, and hack and slash to break the boredom.
* InterfaceScrew: In ''Zombie Slayers'', blood is splattered across the screen (and will "realistically" drip downwards) every time you hack zombies into bits. Kill multiple enemies in a single attack and almost the ''entire'' screen will be blood-field, but all these effects will last for a few seconds.

* LimitBreak[=/=]SuperMode: In ''Chaos'', both the Baneful Blood and Vampire Sisters get an upgrade from their enraged state. Aya and Saki get Xtatic, and Kagura and Saaya gain access to Dare Drive. Their transformations work similar to [[VideoGame/DevilMayCry Devil Trigger]], though you still lose some health or are more susceptible to damage just like the enraged state. The girls can recover health by killing zombies and getting random drops of blood crystal from them. Also, the girls become more stripperific due to their transformations with the exception of Saaya.

Kagura's more concerned about dying from blood loss instead of internal organ failure or broken bones, and this is all PlayedForLaughs.
* MiniGameCredits: Taking a page out of ''Devil May Cry'', the ending of Onechanbara Z has Kagura and Saaya face off Aya and Saki for the last time. This time however, you are invulnerable while they aren't, to [[NintendoHard give you a chance]].

* MissionPackSequel: From ''Z'' to ''Z2'', there are many, ''many'' recycled assets, levels, enemies and bosses. In fact, there were ''more'' stuff copy-pasted from ''Kagura'' than there were brand-new things introduced in ''Chaos'', somewhere around 65% old to 35% new. Had ''Kagura'' been [[NoExportForYou localized]], Critics that were already merciless on this series would have been even more unkind to ''Chaos''.

* NiceHat: Really, half the appeal from Aya and Kagura is not only their outrageous bikini, but from their cool as all hell cowboy hats.

* OneWingedAngel: Carmilla from Z essentially morphs from her human form into this.

** Also a case of OurZombiesAreDifferent - Reiko in her story arc within Bikini Zombie Slayers mentions that most zombies encountered during the outbreaks are in fact not former humans (although contact with zombie bodily fluids can still cause zombification) but made of the very stuff of Earth itself, leading her to wonder if the zombie crisis is merely nature's revenge against the greed of humans.

Though it's subverted in the actual game and story (other than Kagura carrying twin swords and dressing similar to [[http://andriasang.com/comy2j/images/23esn/ Aya]]), both the former have different personalities and fighting styles from the latter pair.
