The plot features several Marvel characters, primarily the Avengers, Spider-Man, the X-Men and the Fantastic Four, battling a cabal of supervillains, led by Doctor Doom, as the two sides race across several locations in the Marvel universe, from Manhattan to Asgard to Latveria and even Asteroid M, to acquire the Cosmic Bricks, the scattered pieces of the Silver Surfer’s board. As per [=LEGO=] game tradition, hilarity (and Creator/StanLee cameos) ensues along the way.

Recently learned about this British slang, which reminded me of this sidequest.

Added DiffLines:

* LiteralMetaphor: Rocket Raccoon's third sidequest plays on the British slang "you having a giraffe" meaning "you must be joking" by having him request proof of Wal Russ having seen building-climbing giraffes, and when you bring a photo back he asks "you havin' a giraffe?" both literally and metaphorically.

Just realized there are more superhuman baddie-fighting questers than normal ones.

* ArtificialBrilliance: The various Quest Givers relating to beating up baddies have decently-coded combat A.I. that lets them fight pretty well on their own. While the game only registers player-beaten baddies for completing the sidequests, the NPC's work well for thinning out and keeping occupied the majority as you work your way through them.

* BadassNormal: The various sidequests for beating up baddies usually have the completely normal Quest Givers join you in fighting, and while they can't add to the combined total of baddies beaten by the player, they can help by keeping the numbers trimmed down and distracted.

* AdaptationalBadass: The Mark 42 Armour from Film/IronMan3. In the movies the Mk 42 was dozens of upgrades after armors that shrugged off tank fire and could give the thunder god Thor a decent fight, yet it malfunctioned a lot and constantly fell apart. Here, despite being made of Lego, it never falls apart and is a straight upgrade over Tony's older suits with a fully working arsenal. It not only works, but Tony mentions that he even de-magnetized it so it was immune to Magneto's powers.

The Cameo on its own is being converted into only relating to celebrities, so any other use no longer fits.

* TheCameo:
** Space shots feature Ego the Living Planet.
** Deadpool cameos briefly in almost every story mission.
** Averted in Stan Lee's case. Not only does he show up in pretty much every single area, he's .
** Several non-playable (at least, at that point) X-Men show up in the X-Mansion level. Most obviously Gambit and Colossus, but also Emma Frost, and a blink-and-you'll-miss-it appearance of Archangel.

Loads And Loads Of Characters is no longer a trope

* LoadsAndLoadsOfCharacters: Actually one of the goals in the games is to get every character. Deadpool lampshades it in the Blob sidequest.

* ToylessToylineCharacter: The rosters contain LoadsAndLoadsOfCharacters, so this trope is inevitable. Some characters did eventually get toys, though it is usually sometime after the game, sometimes with major differences; for example, Groot is depicted as a Big Fig and the Sentinel as a minifigure, even as a giant, but the toys proper are conventionally built figures.
