* AnAesop: Humans do not need a guiding hand or a God- they can take care of themselves.
* BigBad: Shadar, the Malevolent Shadow, is the ultimate antagonist in both games who seeks to kill hundreds and become the god of the world so he may [[spoiler:balance it]]. He has [[BigBadEnsemble competition]] in both games, but always comes out on top.
* HumansAreTheRealMonsters: Zigzagged. On the one hand, humans, especially the humans of old, are shown to have been cruel and abusive towards the Demi-Gods and Proteus. Apollo and his CoDragons, Arianna and [[spoiler:Narik/Abel]], certainly believe this. Quite a bit of humans are mean in the present day as well, with [[spoiler:Malakai]] from the sequel embodying human evil. On the other hand, there are also a lot of good humans in the series, the human heroes among them, and aside from [[spoiler:Malakai]], even the worst of the human villains have redeeming qualities, while Apollo, Arianna, and [[spoiler:Narik/Abel]] are presented as lunatics for wanting to KillAllHumans. Haizum in the sequel is a literal monster who is shown to be just as much of a metaphorical monster as his human boss [[spoiler:Malakai]].
