* DeconstructiveParody: The many characters' treatment of Alear does this to "Avatar worship" (a series-specific form of CharacterShilling directed towards the [[PlayerCharacter Avatar]] of the game). In most ''Fire Emblem'' games with Avatars, the other characters tend to have a very worshipful attitude towards the Avatar, constantly praising their strength, charisma, and intelligence as second-to-none. ''Engage'' exaggerates this aspect to the point of the other characters literally worshipping Alear ''as a deity''. As for Alear's part, they are [[StopWorshippingMe weirded out at best and at worst uncomfortable with this very treatment]], seeing it as preventing them from making meaningful connections with others. Most of Alear's support conversations have the other characters eventually drop their worship towards them, instead coming to see them as a friend and equal.

** Moiron showcases that while RoyalsWhoActuallyDoSomething is indeed admirable, that "something" being a proud warrior king is still ''quite'' risky... but also isn't exactly a good way to be ''leading a country''. He also deconstructs this even further in that his behaviour would, in any other game, be an antagonist - but the stupidity of these makes the player facepalm because he's on ''their'' side technically.

* ChildSoldiers: True to any Fire Emblem game, you have multiple playable characters who are minors. This game however deconstructs it on a gameplay level: These characters tend to have poor Build & Health stats, meaning [[SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome heavier & larger weapons will slow them down and they won't be able to take many hits]],

** ChildSoldiers are common in Fire Emblem games - but ''Engage'' is one of the few games to showcase that children who haven't finished growing yet are still ''not'' the best combatants due to how easy it is for them to be defeated. Many of the visibly younger characters have a low Build base & growth stats, meaning that using bigger and heavier weapons actively ''slows them down''. Even though some of them can become quite good (Jean and Anna), they need to be [[MagikarpPower babied quite a bit]] before they will be able to survive more than a few attacks.

On April 2023, coupled with an [[DownloadableContent Expansion Pass]], the game received an extra side story titled the Fell Xenologue. In it, Alear is summoned to a different world of Elyos where the war against the Fell Dragon left the world in complete chaos and many of their friends have turned against each other. In the center of the conflict, Fell Dragon twins Nel and Nil seek to recover the Emblem Bracelets; the counterparts to the Emblem Rings, in order to stop the nations from killing each other while a suspicious foe lurks in the shadows, hellbent on reclaiming the bracelets to make a wish.

** The DLC Emblem Hector's Runesword, despite its description implying it works the same way as other magic weapons, actually uses half the user's Strength stat in its damage calculation instead of Magic. It worked this way back in [[VideoGame/FireEmblemTheBlazingBlade Hector's original game]], but nothing in Engage indicates it obeys the same logic here.

*** Excluding remakes, thieves once again revert back to not having any class change options, even though in ''Three Houses'', it is possible for anyone with this class can class change into similar thief-like classes. The game compensates this by making them function as a special class, giving them a maximum level of 40 to prevent them from [[CantCatchUp falling behind]].
