* EarlyInstallmentWeirdness:
** A lot of the earlier features that debuted with the game, most notably that you couldn't "deactivate" clan troops, being able to ''sell'' your own buildings, and that enemy attacks can ''destroy'' your reserve army, have since been deprecated and most haven't been elaborated on.
** For a while, clan wars, one of the game's biggest selling points, ''weren't even a feature'' until a few updates later.
** Town Hall designs are a lot more consistent and tame from 1-8 (8 being the max at the game's release), with key aesthetic differences usually being walls and a few defenses. Town Hall 9 and onwards use more uniform singular motifs across all upgrades.
** The Hog Rider, contrary to promo material, has a deeper and more gruff voice in the actual game since release. This only gets more noticeable with a future update adding the Super Hog Rider who sounds a lot more like his promo version, and gets ridiculous with the Builder Base's Hog Glider, who somehow has ''both'' voices.

** Resource Storages are completely immune to all spells. Prior to the 2015 July 1st update, it was common to simply drop as many lightning spells as you could over an enemy village's gold or dark elixir storage as a risk free way to effectively trade elixir for gold dark elixir. Now if you try to do so, a blue shield will absorb any incoming spell damage.

** Town Hall 12, introduced in June 2018, is also a defense structure. It includes the Giga Tesla, a cross between a Hidden Tesla and Inferno Tower. Like the Hidden Tesla, it isn't visible at the start of an attack, but activates when the Town Hall takes damage or 50% of the base's buildings are destroyed (whichever comes first). Like the Inferno Tower in multi-target mode, it deals huge damage to multiple units at once (though doesn't have a single-target option). The Giga Tesla can be upgraded to Level 5, at which point it also becomes a ticking time bomb: once the TH goes down, it explodes, damaging anything unlucky enough to be near it. Town Hall 13 turns it into a similar tower, the Giga Inferno. Upgrades to the town hall improve the explosion's abilities (see TakingYouWithMe below)
** Town Hall 13 introduced the Scattershot, a rock throwing defense.
** Town Hall 16 added the ability to merge two Cannons and two Archer Towers into the ricochet cannon and the triple archer tower respectively

** Town Hall 13 introduced the Scattershot, a rock throwing defense.
defense that spreads its damage in a cone shape that can hit up to five tiles away.
** Town Hall 15 added the Monolith, which deals percent based damage to its targets, and Spell Towers. Spell towers trigger spell effects when troops are in their range, as of now there are three spells, the Rage Spell, the Poison Spell, and the Invisibility Spell, which all work similarly to how they do on offense. These spells are all helpful, but they all take around a minute to reload.
** Town Hall 16 added the ability to merge two pairs of Cannons and two pairs of Archer Towers into the ricochet cannon Ricochet Cannon and the triple archer tower respectivelyMulti-Archer Tower respectively. In addition to having higher stats than their components combined the Ricochet Cannon's attacks bounce to a second troop and the Multi-Archer Tower targets three troops at once with multiple archers attacking the same troop if there are less than 3 in its range.

** As noted above, when the Giga Tesla in Town Hall 12 is maxed out, it will also explode when the TH goes down. The Giga Inferno in Town Hall 13 gains the ability to slow down troops with its explosion, and upgrading the Town Hall to level 14 makes it a poison bomb that deals damage over time and now slows and weakens troops. Town Hall 15 buffs the range of the poison bomb, and Town Hall 16 has no differences.

** Mountain Golems in the Clan Capital take it a step further. They have thousands of health, have powerful attacks will destroy most buildings in a few hits, and a special ability that lets them instakill any wall merely by touching it, but they are incredibly slow, with their attacks taking an entire four seconds to initiate, and their movement speed is so slow that they make the aforementioned P.E.K.K.A look fast.
