%%* VideoGameCrueltyPunishment: Downplayed because it's generally others that bear the consequences of your own cruelty potential, but this can indirectly cause you problems. Once the greed level gets high enough, merchants will upcharge their wares to absurd degrees, other NPCs become so crazed with greed that they'll happily betray you at the slightest provocation, a few more heroic NPCs may attack you if your reputation is too villainous, and cursed townsfolk will attack you and others in the streets. Downplayed on the latter two since it does get you more XP/gold/loot.

%%* * EvilPaysBetter: The game wouldn't be much of a moral dillemma dilemma if it didn't.didn't. Choosing greedy responses when finishing quests generally gets you more gold and oftentimes magic items that you wouldn't be able to get otherwise, or at least wouldn't be able to get until much later. Doing this will worsen the world greed, though.
