%%Red vs Blue: Divergent is a story focusing on key canon characters, with Genre Savvy characters sprinkled in for good measure. One self-insert character, with a pension for going berserk on tanks, shows up in Blood Gulch during season 3, when the rest of the team have already disappeared, and meets up with the rest of the Reds and joins their team with little to no problems. Another self-insert character becomes the main antagonist of Season 9-10 in the flashbacks, causing quiet a stir that causes Connie and the others to survive - though none of them are very grateful to him about it.
%%
%%The Long Ranger is a Justice League/Young Justice crossover which uses the story of all the Animated Cartoons, including Teen Titans and Green Lanterns, to recreate the story of Young Justice. This is an actually attempt to fix some of the truly terrible plot lines in the show, focusing instead more on drama rather than adventure (which is what the show failed to do because of its startlingly rapid pace). It never made sense for me that villains would work swimmingly together, as the Light obviously does, when the head honchos have different ideas of how the end result should effect the world. In all truth, I think the Light was really just Vandal Savage played spectacularly poorly, considering that his goals were never established (probably because they were trying to avoid the whole "evil monologue") and that his prior incarnations and the prior incarnations of the other Light heads had very different Agenda's and goals that never feasibly could mesh well. I use my [=OC=] here as a tool to investigate and explore the problem on a deeper level, both involving how all the cartoons play into it and how drastically different the result of the changes are from the original show, as well as what remained the same (and very few stuff does remain the same).

Everything below here is me getting to know Tropes and linking them to characters/races that I've already created or am in the process of creating so that I can understand the Tropes better. It's a permanent work in progress, so please ignore anything that looks off or funny, or simply ignore everything.

Currently, [=T0RN=]: Genesis is going to have a rewritten version, and the original version will remain on Ao3. It's a work in progress but I think the end result will be much better than what I had before, especially story wise.

My Rules When Writing]]

Since my current focus is in SelfInsert stories, and since there's a lot of tropes common with these types of stories, I have a few general rules that I follow when writing them.

->1. The Self Insert/Protagonist, if s/he does have powers, will have powers that make sense for her character background and story, and there will be at least one other character in the story with similar or exactly the same powers. That other character does not always have to be a villain, but if the protagonist is good, then expect it to be either a Villains villain or a neutral character.

->2. The Protagonist's beliefs will not be the beliefs of the other characters, nor will s/he persuade the other characters to her side easily. In the case of most Protagonists, reality will step in and teach an aesop to said character.

->3. The Point of View of the entire story will be in Third Person Limited Point of View, and will not switch between First POV and Third Limited POV. Some regular Third Person POV will be present but only for dramatic effect.

->4. Protagonist Centered Morality will be avoided at all costs, especially since it's (in this troper's opinion) the trait of a MarySue.

Imagine for a moment a zombie. The nice kind of zombie that doesn't really eat your brains and acts more like a mindless pawn in a hive. Sorta like a Bee Hive, except the queen is a super advanced artificial intelligence with next to no emotions. Also, this not-a-zombie happens to have hundreds of clones with the same color scheme, all of whom are giant robotic creatures from space. These are Vehicons, and those A.I.s are their Hivemasters.

Vehicons have a strict moral code that doesn't necessarily extend to their Hivemaster which prevents them from converting you against your will. They are particularly eager to meet you, because for one you are in fact their other half - their Spark. They fully intend to turn you into their Spark, their Soul, but they need your full willingness to do so. Their programming won't allow otherwise. And if you just so happen to be a kid that doesn't exactly know what you're agreeing toor a physically disabled man, then... uh, well... uh....

They're trying?

* AIIsACrapshoot: The Mentor.
* CyberneticsEatYourSoul: Literally, though really it's them eating your whole body and then turn it into their new soul. Congratulations, you're a Pretender.

The Pretenders are a race of Cybertronians that were once mindless and sparkless before acquiring a human symbiotethough one could argue that they weren't actually symbiotes since they became sparks. Many of the legends surrounding them have painted them as Sparkeaters, which is basically giant robotic alien word for "The Boogieman", and caused their own legacy and history to be majorly forgotten, especially after the Quintessons attacked Cybertron and destroyed most of the original records of their history. After Nova Prime rewrote history to better suit the new government, he recasted The Pretenders as Sparkeaters, even though that was only half of what they are.

Pretenders are designed to give humans the ultimate upgrade, which shares many similarities with an EmergencyTransformation. Due to divine providence, the humansand any other intelligent species of organic creature that just happened to have energy signatures similar to that of a Cybertronian spark are sought out by their perfect robotic halves in order for them to combine and become fully Cybertronian. In addition to becoming basically LongLived in a TimeAbyss, they become much more powerful both physically and mentally. Not everyone can easily accept their new lives and, because of this, those "chosen" are carefully selected from individuals whose minds can easily adapt to the situation - i.e. those who wish for this kind of life, such as Transfans or the physically disabled, or children who won't be missed.

Before becoming Pretenders, their harmless, mindless and sparkless drone forms were known as Vehicons.

A literal CyberneticsEatYourSoul, through UnwillingRoboticisation, though for some who chose this life it can be a case of BeCarefulWhatYouWishFor or WishFulfillment. Also, not to be confused with an actual Sparkeater, or the Insecticons, though they are a subspeciesI'm not talking about the canon Insecticons or Sparkeaters of Vehicons.

Not to be confused with the Pretenders of TransformersSuperGodMasterforce.

* OurSoulsAreDifferent: Depending on perspective, it could be one of these.
* EnergyAbsorption: Terrans adapted to the planet's energy rich atmosphere and lack of raw energon by learning to do this.
* GeneticMemory: .
* PhotographicMemory: All Pretenders have this, both of their Cybertronians life and

Imagine a Vehicon that has no Hivemaster and only lives according to the few remaining programs inside of its mind. Such a Vehicon would, if uninterrupted, naturally become a Pretender. But someone decided that this mindless drone could be used for some other, nefarious purpose, and so its programming was altered. Except, the part of it that seeks out humans remained inbedded in its new coding, and at the first chance it got, it tried to become a Pretender. But, without all its essential programming, it became something else.

%%This is the birth of the Sparkeater, a mindless but no longer entirely souless creature who is the epitome of the walking dead. The human inside is dead, mentally and physically, but their soul has yet to move on to the afterlife. Their programming is the only thing that drives them forward, and sometimes this can lead to some scarily loyal army or a cluster of mindless, unnloyal Sparkeaters. If the later, then they will be forever stuck on a loop due to the failure to acquire the first soul, but this will continue on an infinite loop. They will seek out new sparks to consume, they will consume the humans, but they will never achieve their Pretender status.

A mindless and sparkless subspecies of Vehicon, one that isn't harmless. At all.

* ThingsThatGoBumpInTheNight: Supposedly in Cybertronian legend.

The Insecticons, or at least the Insecticons that are a subspecies of Vehicon, are native only to Earth, though their name originated from Arachnid, the first Insecticon that was created by Shockwave. They are mostly mindless drones, with a few smart ones that are the children of Arachnid through . Due to Arachnid's experimentations, they are much more powerful and battle smart than the average Cybertronian, and their strong armor is almost enough to protect them from a Pretender's superior firepower.

* AIIsACrapshoot: Because of the lack of a hivemind, each Insecticon drone has its own AI that helps them to scavenge for parts, .

The self-appointed Guardian of Earth and last Omnibotnot your tfwiki version of Omnibot of Earth, Killjoy believes herself to be TheOnlyOne who can protect of her people, mostly because everyone else is wholy incompitent or dead. She wakes up from a coma after a car accident as a unstoppable juggernaut wanting to save the world from an unknown enemy known as .

Killjoy has a long-standing relationship with her twin sister, but has always struggled to remain independent of her. Though her actions may be leaning towards psychopathy or becoming the resident sociopath, her stalwart belief in justice and hatred of all things her sister might dislike makes her seem more like a WellIntentionedExtremist.

* ActionHeroine: She is the main protagonist of the first book and one of three in the second book.

Unfortunately, some of them turn out that way anyway or simply go down a road I wasn't expecting but I'm still going to make the attempt.

So, everything below here is me getting to know Tropes and linking them to characters/races that I've already created or am in the process of creating so that I can understand the Tropes better. It's a permanent work in progress, so please ignore anything that looks off or funny, or simply ignore everything.

I think my goal in life for fanfiction right now is coming up with a SelfInsertFic that actually appeals to me as an intellectual, i.e. a SelfInsertFic without a MarySue. There are a lot of Self-Insert fanfics out there that require that the SI Character have special powers or some such, with little to no personality. There's no creativity in the story plots or any change in the canon storyline. I don't know why - maybe because they want to play it safe and just shove their characters in between two lines in the script? That isn't creative, or original. There is little to no attempt at coming up with a reason for why this person exists - they just do. That seem to me to be the earmark of a Mary-Wish-Fulfillment-Sue.

I have grown tired of seeing stories like that. I want a SI story that has a little mystery in it, that has some new elements, and that actually gives the SI character a challenge to solve, as well as give them some personal growth. Even some of the stories I have faved on Fanfiction.Net don't meet the standards I have set for myself, which is why I'm writing them.

Note when I say 'self-insert' character, I don't mean those blank sheet [=OCs=] that are just inserted into the story. I mean someone from our world who is a fan of a show or continuity ending up in a universe with striking similarities to the show they fell in love with. I don't necessarily mean the author actually being inserted into the story, though that's basically what most of them are intended to be by the end of the day which is predictable, by the way. Well, not in my case. In my stories, these [=OCs/SIs=] know of the shows, fell in love with the shows, but when they finally end up in them, the harsh slap of reality causes them to realize that nothing is as they thought it would be. I think that makes a better story then 'Fix-It-Sue/Slash Me' succeeds at everything, or becomes the sole focus of the antagonists, without actually changing the canon story (ESPECIALLY if that story doesn't make sense or sucks to begin with).

Their ability to consume energy was replicated by their enemies, the original Omnibots. \n\nTheir leader, Destroyaha name that is in the works, was a powerful adversary and nemesis to Rhythmus Prime, believing that he alone could defeat Rhythmus Prime and, as a result, would never allow anyone else in his gestalt team to face Rhythmus in combat alone. When Destroyah's plans to destroy the world finally came to fruition, he went out to face Rhythmus in single combat, but after almost losing to the Prime he summoned up his four gestalt mates to aid him. Though Rhythmus died in the fight, all four of his gestalt mates also died, both at the hands of Rhythmus and the Cataclysm that wrecked the land and buried them alive. The original Omnibots recovered Rhythmus' body shortly afterwards and, due to the events that followed, Destroyah would come to believe that Rhythmus was still alive and he waited for the Prime to seek him out and end him once and for all. It is unknown what happened to him after that. %% He would not become active again until the twenty-first century, where a team of Sector 7 agents would recover his remains from beneath a mountain.\n\nMost tropes listened below are for the Leader.\n\n* AlmightyIdiot: Too much PowerHigh came at a price. %%[[spoiler:This would end up making him more determined and single-minded in his goal to end Rhythmus, causing him to attack Killjoy.
