Per this ATT. An anonymous post on a random 4chan thread isn't a reliable source, especially since there wasn't an official statement from Christy Hui herself confirming this.

** Combined with ExecutiveMeddling, as revealed by one of the previous writers in an [[https://desuarchive.org/co/thread/53052245/#q53092434 AMA]], the series' creative direction was hijacked around the middle of Season 2 by the production committee, who hoped to steer the series more towards a younger demographic who would be more likely to buy [[MerchandiseDriven merchandise]]. When Season 3 finally aired and didn't produce the uptick in merch sales they were looking for, WB axed the series while the season was only partway through production, forcing them to drop several hanging plot-threads such as Hannibal's long-term plan in order to quickly write a finale that was at least somewhat thematically conclusive.
** Cartoon Network Australia quietly cancelled showings of Xiaolin Showdown after Season 2 finished airing. Season 3 would not air in the country until 2009, ''four years later'' and on the channel Boomerang as well, meaning that Australian fans were left for that entire time thinking the show ended with Omi trapped working on the side of evil.
