* IKnewIt: Several fans called [[spoiler:Hubcap being a spy]] because not only was he a new character, but his quirky personality and tics made it seem too obvious that the narrative was trying to divert suspicion from him.

** From the very beginning, Roche and Roberts planned to kill one of the "Big Three" Wreckers (Springer, Perceptor or Kup). Initially, Springer was going to die - however, Hasbro vetoed his death (for reasons that, to this day, Roche still doesn't know). Perceptor was then slated to be killed - however IDW vetoed him dying because one of the associate editors (Denton J. Tipton) is a fan of the character. Said editor suggested they killed Kup instead, but Roche and Roberts said "No".

* HypoetheticalCasting: Writer James Roberts has said that Overlord sounds like the Creator/AnthonyAinley[=/=]Creator/JohnSimm incarnations of TheMaster from ''Series/DoctorWho''. He also tells his troops to "please attend carefully", a reference to a well-known line from the Master in the story "[[Recap/DoctorWhoS18E7Logopolis Logopolis]]".

* BreakthroughHit: Nick Roche had already worked for IDW, and this was James Roberts' first work. Both instantly became fan favorites and are pretty much the equivalent of A-Listers in the fandom now.

* AscendedFanon: [[http://transformers-mosaic.deviantart.com/art/Dead-Men-s-Boots-168166799 The Transformer mosaic.]] Originally a {{Fanon}} piece created by the same authors of the miniseries, as a thank you to their readership, it has now become part of the canon after being published in the trade.
* FandomNod: Ironfist mentions the Wreckers' mission at "T'Muk," a reference to the ''Transmasters UK'' (or "TMUK") fanzine where the co-writers got their first break.
* FanNickname: "Wrookies", for the newbie Wreckers.
* RunningTheAsylum: A well-received example. The authors are both {{Promoted Fanboy}}s, and the series follows a Transformers-exclusive iteration of a rule detailed on the RunningTheAsylum trope pages: the characters used as {{OC Stand In}}s were available in the UK as toys around the time that the authors were younger, which explains their motivation for rescuing them from eternal obscurity.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen: Roberts and Roche have often commented on dropped plans, and much of the original rough script is present in the hardcover edition. Dropped material include: Scorponok having his conscious removed from Abraham Dante, and taking a new head, Fortress Maximus's head (Colorist Josh Burcham liked this idea and drew [[http://dcjosh.deviantart.com/art/The-new-Headmaster-of-G9-177646917 his interpretation of it]]). Overlord would have an insane Grimlock in a pit waiting to savage any victims, and the series would have ended with Overlord falling into the pit and meeting his end. The story would have ended with Guzzle gunning down Kup after they'd gotten away before being shot in retaliation.
