** A scene where the late Erik Cassel’s [[VideoGame/{{Roblox}} Robloxian]] [[UnfortunateImplications begs to be killed]] (complete with the ''WebAnimation/ASDFMovie'' soundbite) was cut from “If Mario Was In... Roblox” shortly after its release due to [[DudeNotFunny backlash]]. You can still see the scene on a few reactions.

** Fans quickly noticed similarities between ''[[WebAnimation/SMG4MovieWesternSpaghetti WESTERN SPAGHETTI]]'' and the 2017 episode "[[Recap/SMG4WildWildMario Wild Wild Mario]]" before the former even premiered. Glitch acknowledged this by tweeting the link to the earlier episode. Just a few weeks after that movie, Mario would don his "Optimus Prime 3000" getup in a further ShoutOut.

** [=BenJojoGV=] was a well-known user on the subreddit for his high-quality SFM screenshots. 2021 saw him getting hired to do thumbnail work on the series. He also created the updated ("Ponytail") Meggy model.

** Sometime around 2017, a video titled “Toad Has A Secret”, was privatized most likely due to it’s short length combined with being made and edited by former editor Martin Yeung due to SMG4 being busy working on exams and making "SSENMODNAR DELUXE" at the time. Aside from it being viewed by reactions, it mostly remained lost for several years until in February 2021, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lNV8DMVkQb where someone found a reupload of the video.]]

** On November 4, 2020, the episode “0% of Spaghetti” was privatized because of Luke and Kevin reacting to it on the Hobo Bros channel, most likely because it was heavily implied to be a source of OldShame for Luke, the low quality of it, the ValuesDissonance of the older bloopers being at its most prevalent (most prominently the scene where Mario shoots a random guy he thinks is a ninja and justifying it by saying "he was black?", which was quickly cut entirely from their reaction) and Starman3's cameos (which were also cut). The only way you can view the episode now is by reuploads.

** Any episode starring Starman3 (i.e: “[=SMG4=] Joins The YTR” and “[=Starman3=] Gets 5,000 Subs”) also falls under this category, thanks to Starman3’s pedo allegations and portraying him in a positive light.

* MissingEpisode:
** "0% of spaghetti" was deliberately set to private on the same day the ''Hobo Bros'' reaction to it was released, likely out of a combination of it being heavily implied to be a source of CreatorBacklash for Luke, the low quality of it, the ValuesDissonance of the older bloopers being at its most prevalent (most prominently the scene where Mario shoots a random guy he thinks is a ninja and justifying it by saying "he was black?", which was quickly cut entirely from their reaction) and [=Starman3=]'s cameos (which were also cut).
** "The [=SMG4=] Weight Losers" was also removed for similar reasons. ** In a way, the announcement of "War of the Fat Italians 2023" addresses the controversial the inclusion of characters other than [=SMG4=] and Mario, which was criticized as [[ArtifactTitle defeating the purpose of the title]] (that Mario went to "war" with a recolor of himself). The trailer for "[=WotFI=] 2023", on the other hand, implies that the challenge will be strictly between Mario and [=SMGs=] 3 and 4; while the Meme Guardians are no longer Mario recolors due to the events of the previous year's [=WotFI=], it at least keeps the "fat" part of the title relevant, given they're both still designed with a similar build to the plumber himself.[[note]]"We Don't Talk About What Happened in the Elevator" also implies that [=SMG4=] at least is somehow even ''heavier'' than Mario.[[/note]]

He's easily the character Kevin has the most fun writing for, and the audience loves him as well for being [[UnpopularPopularCharacter a friendly, yet nerdy loser among his group of friends]]. Kevin also voices Boopkins, so he sometimes functions in fourth-wall gags as Kevin's AuthorAvatar.

** Ellen Barclay, Production Manager and Secretary for Glitch Productions, provided the vocals for Meggy in WOTFI 2017-18 and Saiko's singing in "Doki Doki Mario Club" and "Mario and the Diss Track".

** Elsie Lovelock, who replaced Lizzie Freeman as Meggy's voice following the latter's departure from the series, is British and proud of it, but manages to copy Lizzie's style perfectly.

** In the [=SMG4=] [=QnA=] 2020 video, Luke revealed Bob's surname: Bobowski. While looking at Bob's wiki page for a Hobo Bros video, he said he'd forgotten that, said it was stupid, but then decided to roll with it anyway.

** Many people accurately predicted how the Waluigi Arc would end. [[spoiler:Since Wario made a promise to bring Waluigi home and treat him better in "Mario The Scam Artist", and acceptance was Waluigi's LogicalWeakness, it was impossible not to assume that Wario would eventually talk Waluigi down by openly accepting him. Sure enough, that's exactly what happens, albeit with a little effort.]]
** After [[CriminalDoppelganger SMG3]] was revealed to have a [=PhD=] in therapy and had gotten his own talk show a la ''Series/DrPhil'', many were convinced it wouldn't last, and that [=SMG3=], one of the show's earliest and most recurring antagonists, mind you, would slip back into his villainous ways. Sure enough, "A Day in the Life of Everyone" marks his show's cancellation, and in the WhereAreTheyNowEpilogue, he is shown brainstorming on evil plans and ways to get back at [=SMG4=] once more.
** While not ''everyone'' figured it out, a good majority of people guessed that [[spoiler:Francis was behind Meggy's kidnapping since he was around to see how Ink Weaver was powered up through Inkling Ink and his continued fawning over Ink Weaver in "Mario Saves Anime".]]
** A few aspects of [=SMG4=]'s fourth story arc were guessed ahead of time:
*** That the arc would center around [=YouTube=] since the site and Susan had become a common theme of the early episodes of the arc [[ItWasHisSled before they were known to be part of the arc]].
*** That [=SMG3=] would be the BigBad due to "Mario's Spicy Day" implying he would return for revenge, WordOfGod confirming [=SMG3=] would have a bigger role, and him getting a voice actor, which is usually a sign of a character getting an important role.
*** [=SMG3=]'s master plan being replacing the main cast with his own cast due to the WOTFI 2020 trailer outright showcasing this.
*** Meggy getting [[Creator/LizzieFreeman a permanent English voice]] due to "Mario Gets【Ｗｏｋｅ】" showcasing Lizzie's voice for Meggy when her voice got temporarily changed to English by The [=YouTube=] Remote.
** Meggy's departure. With WOTFI 2020 giving her a professional VA, many fans started speculating that she was getting [[WebAnimation/SunsetParadise her own series]], citing the many changes made to her character over the years to make her a full OC. When said series was teased in the GLITCH channel's introduction video and hints of it started appearing within [=SMG4=], many believed it was only a matter of time before she left for Port Aurora in-series. "The Pursuit of Happiness" has her get a ticket to Port Aurora from her friends, with a special video showing her departure.
** Before the release of the 10 Year Anniversary special, a post on the subreddit questioned why the two then unnamed hobos were featured in the poster despite being really minor characters. In the comments, a user known as [=Chardoggy1=] predicted the possibility that they were [[spoiler:[=SMG1=] and [=SMG2=]]] given the numbers on their hats, and he couldn’t have been more right.
** The Genesis arc had quite a few big theories confirmed to the point that some joked that [[RunningTheAsylum fan theories had to be a partial driving force of the arc]]:
*** A long-running theory concerning Mario was that he never permanently dies because his life is tied to the [=SMG4=] Universe and that if he dies, the universe goes with him. Mario being revealed as the Avatar of the [=SMG4=] Universe and [=YouTuber=] Sunflower's video covering the "[=SMG4=] Iceberg" gave this theory major traction until "The Other Universe" fully confirmed it, showing exactly what happens when a universe's Avatar is killed and cementing Mario's role as a BarrierMaiden.
*** Some GenreSavvy fans deduced from Mario saying "yeah, no one died surprisingly" at the end of "Into the Dark Web" and from the subtle (at the time) increased focus on certain characters alone that [[spoiler:Axol would die]] by the end of the arc. Some even further predicted it would be used as a catalyst to [[spoiler:mature Melony]].
*** Many fans managed to piece together Zero's origin just from the flashbacks shown in the 10th anniversary and "The Other Universe"; [[spoiler:that he was a former SMG with an Avatar of his own until his universe was destroyed.]]
** From the moment they appeared in "Mario Goes to College", the fanbase agreed the Box Club would be important based on the ominous speech the leader gave at the end of their debut episode, the leader having a voice actor and their box masks having custom GLITCH show-esque expressions, all staples of OC content and telltale signs that they would be important story-wise. Many further predicted that [[spoiler:they were related to Zero, deduced from their club logo having a 0 at the center.]]
** Zero still being alive after the Genesis arc. Practically everyone doubted he was really killed off for good at the end of WOTFI 2021 despite the crew and the main cast's claims InUniverse that he was destroyed. The numerous references to Zero, the seeming post-mortem buildup of his character, Luke confirming there was more to the story of Genesis and James saying "Zero is not done yet" during a ''Deltarune'' stream left many outright taking his return for granted. [[spoiler:This was before Niles' Zero-esque traits made the general fanbase gravitate toward him.]]
** Fans had a notoriously easy time dissecting Niles as a character to the point that nearly everything speculated about him turned out to be correct. Him [[spoiler:being related to Zero]][[note]]deduced from his physical features, general personality, MeaningfulName and for knowing things about Melony and the cast that he couldn't have possibly known[[/note]] and [[spoiler:being in Melony's head]][[note]]deduced from the fact that Melony was the only one to acknowledge him in all of his screentime[[/note]] were predicted months before "Absolute Betrayal" confirmed both.
** Regarding the God Box, plenty of people correctly guessed that [[spoiler:it was connected with Zero in some way. To elaborate, it created Niles, who was merged with [=SMG0=] to create Zero]].
** Fans accurately predicted that the mysterious door in Saiko's house that kept being brought up as a recurring joke involved [[spoiler:Kaizo, the main protagonist of the game she was pulled from,]] in some way.
** [=SMG4=]'s temporary IP change design in "If Mario was in... Splatoon 3" was almost immediately taken as a soon-to-be-permanent redesign despite it being reversed by the end of the episode, with savvy fans citing that it had both a well-made GMOD model and a custom [=SM64=] model with numerous custom expressions as evidence for this. The fact that a similar {{foreshadowing}} trick had already been used for Meggy's English voice change during the [=YouTube=] arc helped. A subset of people also predicted that [=SMG3=] would change too so as not to break the lore of the Cosmology Saga, and that he would have a beard to look like his voice actor, James, in the same way [=SMG4=] was changed to look like Luke.
** After [[spoiler:Peach's castle was destroyed for good]] at the end of "IT'S GOTTA BE PERFECT", while [[spoiler:Peach remaining trapped in its ruins swallowed by the monster]] was concerning for some fans, not everyone was convinced that [[spoiler:she would up and die in there]]. Sure enough, a brief gag in "The Stupid Mario Movie" reveals that [[spoiler:not only did she survive, but she's building on a rocket to escape]].
** Following [=SMG4's=] plan to build a new castle at the Showgrounds, some fans have wondered if Depresso would show up there in some way, shape, or form. Sure enough, he appeared in "The Very Safe & Legal [=SMG4=] Show" and subsequent episodes living and/or rummaging in the property's dumpster.
** On June 14th 2023, [=SMG4=] released [[https://twitter.com/smg4official/status/1669057474874187800 this tweet]] and asked "what Tari doin". Details were vague, but fans speculated that she's [[WesternAnimation/{{Pinocchio}} wishing upon a star]] for a redesign. Three days later, she would end up getting one.
** Simply by the hints offered in the episodes preceding Western Spaghetti, fans were able to easily decipher that One Shot Wren would end up serving as the ArcVillain. [[spoiler:Sure enough, the movie confirms this]].

*** She revealed after its premier that, along with Meggy, she also voiced the young Inkling girl Meggy and Tari are training at the end of ''[[WebAnimation/SMG4MovieWesternSpaghetti Western Spaghetti]]''. Karen also has speaking lines during the movie.

** In some Hobo Bros reaction videos, Luke indicated his displeasure towards the vast majority of videos he made prior to "Seaside Stupidity Part 1" as this. That video introduced Fishy Boopkins and marks Kevin slowly becoming more involved with the production.

* HarpoDoesSomethingFunny: Episode scripts usually only contain dialogue and plot important actions, allowing the editors to adlib scenes for extra comedic effect.

* NonSingingVoice: [[spoiler:[=Ax0l=]]] is voiced by [=MATTHEWGU4=] during the rap battle of "War of the Fat Italians 2021" rather than [[spoiler:Kevin]]. In the same video, Melony's singing is done by hackerling instead of Wolfychu.

** Whenever Mario speaks and it's ''not'' Charles Martinet clips or an AI, [=VoicesExtremus=] typically provides the voice (along with Luigi's). In "Mario Waits For The Bus", however, he has a line where he's voiced by [=MediExcalibur2012=] due to a ThrowItIn request from Luke.

* RecycledScript:
** A number of post-2017 bloopers are this due to the sheer amount of bloopers that have been made. 2018's "The Mario Mafia" and 2019's "If Mario Was In...Minecraft" and "Smart Mario" have the exact same premise as 2012's "The Mushroom Mafia", "World of Craftmine", and "Smart(ass) Mario", respectively.

** The decision to [[spoiler:kill off the main characters and have Mario save them all]] in the Lawsuit Arc was first done in the [=YouTube=] Arc.

Sonic Movie 2 and "Into the Marioverse", and the College Tari model appeared in a ''WebAnimation/MarioDoesThings'' video ("Mario Does Pranks"), before making its way to an official [=SMG4=] video ("The Very Safe & Legal [=SMG4=] Show"), which also has C_Art's College Saiko and refreshed College Meggy models.

*** A few of Mario's reactions to his WebAnimation/MarioDoesThings videos fell to this when certain videos used some copyrighted music. Current videos affected are his Nintendo Memes videos (1 with the Waluigi cover of Hallelujah & Peach's singing, 2 with gangster music, & 5 with the JustForFun/{{Rickroll}}) & his [=TikTok=] compilation (the robot man submission). Additionally, Tari herself would finally get a redesign of her own to better fit the rest of the cast, after spending most of the year as the only remaining mainstay without one, and would also become one of the main focuses in the middle of the season, yet again due to her OutOfFocus status last season.

** Doubling with TalkingToThemself, Lizzie Freeman voiced both Meggy and Shadow-Meggy in "The Pursuit of Happiness" and "My New Adventure". The reason it counts as both is because Shadow-Meggy manifests physically and isn't always just a voice. This carried over into Meggy's solo series ''WebAnimation/SunsetParadise''.

** As of late-2022, Elsie Lovelock voices no fewer than three recurring characters in [=SMG4=]. Sometimes they appear together.

** To say that Fishy Boopkins’ Lawsuit Arc redesign was controversial would be an understatement. After a new design was teased with the intro for "Mario Plays Cat Mario but every time he dies the walls close in" showing a brand new design for Boopkins among the other character heads, the video announcing the movie "It's Gotta Be Perfect" not only officially reveals Boopkin's new redesign, which leans closer to the original Spike design than before, but also reveals slight upgrades for the designs of [=SMG4=], [=SMG3=], and even Meggy (the second time her human design has been tweaked, having previously been upgraded after returning from ''Sunset Paradise''). Bob, whose Lawsuit Arc redesign was the least controversial of the bunch (though even then not entirely without its critics), is pointedly announced as being left as is.

* {{Blooper}}: In Meggy's debut appearance, her eyes constantly changed color, being pink, green or blue depending on the shot. Luke later admitted that this was just him being inconsistent.
