* ThanksForTheMammary: When Patrick Stewart and Gates [=McFadden=] were rehearsing the scene where the tunnel Crusher is crawling through begins to collapse and Picard has to pull her out, either Gates moved to get into a different position without saying anything or Patrick misjudged the position of her body in the dim light, and instead of grabbing her under the arms, he got two handfuls of her breasts. According to Patrick, ''he'' screamed in shock, Gates got mad at Michael Dorn (who'd begun laughing when he realized what happened) because she thought he'd put Patrick up to it, and as Patrick later said, "[[DirtyOldMan I'm very glad it happened.]]"

* WagTheDirector: Deanna Troi permanently switches to wearing a proper uniform after this episode. This is because Creator/MarinaSirtis didn't like the catsuits she'd been wearing and took Jellico's forcing Troi to get changed as an opportunity to lobby for the costume shift to be made permanent.

* WhatCouldHaveBeen: This episode was supposed to air after ''Series/StarTrekDeepSpaceNine'''s [[Recap/StarTrekDeepSpaceNineS01E01E02Emissary premiere]], as a way to generate interest in the show. But when ''Deep Space Nine''[='s=] premiere was delayed, Rick Berman decided instead to wait a little longer before doing a crossover. This is especially apparent in the scene on Torman V, where they talk to [=DaiMon=] Solok. Originally, they were supposed to speak to Quark on Deep Space Nine. They even used that show's replimat set.

* TroubledProduction: Gul Madred was a tremendously difficult role to cast, with Creator/DavidWarner being chosen at almost literally the last minute. He had no time for more than a quick skim of the script before filming started and is reading off cue cards for the entire episode. This has led to tremendous appreciation for his acting skills that even if you know about this, it's impossible to tell.

* TroubledProduction: Gul Madred was a tremendously difficult role to cast, requiring the ability to hold his own in basically a two man play where he constantly overpowers the naturally commanding Patrick Stewart, with Creator/DavidWarner being chosen at almost literally the last minute. He had no time for more than a quick skim of the script before filming started and is reading off cue cards for the entire episode. This has led to tremendous appreciation for his acting skills that even if you know about this, it's impossible to tell.

* AuthorAppeal: Marina Sirtis was ecstatic about wearing a Starfleet uniform from then on.
-->" "So I put [the Starfleet uniform] on, and by then I was skinny, and the director and all the producers were like 'she looks good in that, why wasn’t she been wearing that for the last six years?'\\

"So I started to wear my spacesuit. I was thrilled to finally be in a spacesuit. First of all, my pips - cause I had a rank, you know. And then, it was very flattering actually, it looked really good. Suddenly, I was smart again. My cleavage had gone. My gray matter came flooding back. I was on away teams! I was the leader of one away team! I had a medical tricorder! And unlike Beverly, I seemed to know what was wrong with people."

* MethodActing: In order to fully engage himself in the role of a torture victim, Patrick Stewart insisted that he actually be stripped nude, rather than simply implying it with careful camera angles. The scenes where he is naked were shot on a closed set, and he was, indeed, completely naked.
