* RealLifeWritesThePlot: In the midst of the series being cancelled after proper filming ended, and Freeform ordering two additional episodes to conclude the story, some of the actors moved on to other projects. This ended up affecting the amount of screentime Luke and Maia had in the two-hour finale, mostly because of their actors Isaiah Mustafa and Alisha Wainwright having scheduling conflicts with the filming of ''Film/ItChapterTwo'' and ''Series/RaisingDion'' respectively.

** The planned fourth season would have included a "slower burn" on the Simon/Izzie romance, Luke returning to the institute as an agent, Helen and Aline given more time and building up a new dark threat.

to:

** Before the series' cancellation, the third season was originally planned for 20 episodes. Had the series been renewed for a fourth season, the third would've seen the BigDamnKiss between Simon and Izzy, before the latter was set on fire as a result of the Heavenly Fire embedded in her veins, which would've been an unfair disturbing finale for the fans if not for the two additional episodes, one of them ''actually'' including the previously mentioned scene. Thus, the third season's twentieth episode ended with Magnus proposing to Alec before flying back to Edom and seal the rift to prevent more demons from escaping.

* ScheduleSlip: During season 3's first run, the first 10 episodes were aired before its mid-season break. While the second handful of episodes was reportedly set to air by August 14, 2018, however, they were pushed back to early 2019 due to the series' abrupt cancellation that came through Netflix withdrawing its partnership with Freeform to air the series globally, thus resulting in the mid-season break being extended for nine months. Even two additional episodes were ordered for the originally-planned 20-episodes-season in order to give a proper ending to the story.
