* {{Cancellation}}: The series was cancelled after three seasons when Jonas Armstrong decided to leave the series so he could move on to other projects. The showrunners could not figure out a way to keep the series going without its main star and since Maid Marian had died at the end of the previous season, it was decided that Robin was to die at the end of the third season.

** Marian was reportedly killed off at the end of season two when Lucy Griffiths decided to leave the show in order to pursue a career in Hollywood.
** Robin was killed off in the final episode Jonas Armstrong announced that he was leaving the series because he was "looking for new challenges".
** Alan was killed off in the final episode when Joe Armstrong left the series out of frustration with his reduced role.

** Creator/HarryLloyd was running through the Nottingham Market set when his cloak caught on the edge of a stall, he tried to wrench it out to avoid ruining the take and the entire stall fell over, causing an extra carrying a bucket of water to drop it on Harry's eye. Lloyd carried on running round the corner, unaware of how badly he'd been injured until Joe Armstrong caught sight of him and he saw his reaction.
** Gordon Kennedy tore his hamstring and was taken to a hospital whilst still in full costume (minus his trousers, which had been removed to pack ice onto the injury), resulting in the hospital mistaking him for a vagrant, and he was about to be deloused before a producer arrived to explain. Kennedy then sprained his ankle ligament on his first day back filming.
** Keith Allen lost a tooth during an action scene on the last episode of the first series. This was written into the script as the Sheriff losing a tooth and getting a bejewelled fake tooth, which actually become a minor plot point in one or two later episodes.
** Jonas Armstrong broke a metatarsal bone in his foot during a fight scene on the second series.

* TroubledProduction: Several master tapes were stolen only a month or two before the first series was to start airing, necessitating some last-minute reshoots. This unfortunately made the affected episodes of the already ChristmasRushed show look even more rushed and sketchy.

* AccidentallyCorrectWriting: Prince John has no mane, most likely due to him originally being a tiger and the animators not bothering with a new design. However, a lion who lacks testosterone does lose its mane and strength, a fitting imagery for the weak Prince John.

** At some point during early development, one of the proposed settings was in the Old West, with actors Pat Buttram (Series/TheGeneAutryShow), Andy Devine (Jingles from ''The Adventures of Wild Bill Hickok''), Ken Curtis (Festus from ''Series/{{Gunsmoke}}''), and George Lindsey (''Series/{{Gunsmoke}}, Series/TheRifleman'', and ''The Real [=McCoys=]'' before playing Goober), all of whom had notable experience acting in Westerns. Writer Ken Anderson was interested in setting the film in the Deep South to evoke ''Film/SongOfTheSouth'', but concerned executives shot that down; Reitherman thus decided to simply keep the setting in England.

* AccidentallyCorrectWriting: The somewhat infamous BlackVikings type PoliticallyCorrectHistory that viewers often mocked, while no doubt done just for the sake of avoiding MonochromeCasting, is actually a fairly accurate look of how Medieval England would have looked. Africa was commonly known and immigration between Africa and Europe wasn't uncommon, particularly for those who were associated with the Catholic Church (such as a monk like Tuck). The utter lack of comment on this too, though again likely done because ColorBlindCasting is in play, is reflective of the fact there wasn't a concept of "race" yet, but rather nationality and religion were the big cultural dividers.

* ChristmasRushed: The first season was rushed into production to capitalise on the success of the BBC's revival of ''Series/DoctorWho'', and features multiple occasions of very obviously dubbed lines to try to bodge scenes together in the edit, scripts that were written in a rush, and questionable decisions regarding costuming, directing and editing (particularly of fight scenes) that might have been sorted out with more time.

** Team Leather - Sheriff/Guy. Also included [[spoiler:Allan and Isabella]] at different points of the show.
** Gisabella - The Gisborne siblings, Guy and Isabella. Sometimes used as a name just for Isabella herself.
** Braid-Face - Kate, referring to her silly [[http://images2.fanpop.com/images/photos/5300000/Cause-and-Effect-3x02-robin-hood-5392489-1280-720.jpg hairstyles]]. As TheScrappy, she was also known as "the Scofula Skank" (long story), "faux-Marian", and S.U.K. (Stupid Useless Kate).
** Preachy and Screechy - the combined force of Tuck and Kate.

* WhatCouldHaveBeen: There was obviously an attempt to set up the show for a fourth season, what with the introduction of Archer as Robin's half-brother who was tasked with [[LegacyCharacter taking up his mantle]] and leading the remaining outlaws. [[https://twitter.com/mwrightwriter/status/1064819981622394881 According to BBC writer/producer Mark Wright]], Sally Wainwright had been brought on as showrunner, the entire production was set to move to Scotland, and some scripts had even been written before news of the show's cancellation. Given that the final scene depicted the outlaws preparing to raise King Richard's ransom money, and since it's a given that Isabella survived the castle explosion (the actress was signed on for multiple seasons), the proposed fourth season would have likely focused on finding funds for Richard and the unique set-up of the new Robin and the Sheriff of Nottingham being half-siblings.

Oddly enough, she was widely promoted as Guy's LongLostSibling in the lead-up to Series 3, even though the episode in which she first appeared held back on the familial relationship and turned it into [[TheReveal A Reveal]]. Either way, plenty of viewers guessed her connection to Guy based on their physical resemblance.

* ActorAllusion: Sam Troughton plays Much in the BBC series, following in the footsteps of his grandfather Creator/PatrickTroughton , who was the first ever Robin Hood on TV.
** In the episode ''Lardner's Ring'', Guy tells Marian that: "you're coming home with me." This is what Thornton says to Margaret Hale at the conclusion of ''Literature/NorthAndSouth''. Both characters were played by Creator/RichardArmitage.

** Played straight in S3, in which twenty-eight year old Creator/CliveStanden plays twenty year old Archer, and ''thirty'' year old Joanne Froggatt plays Kate, whose age is never specified, but who is clearly meant to be a young teenager judging by the way she behaves and is treated by other characters.
* DeletedScene: According to the DVD commentary, the Season Two finale included a scene in which Djaq gives Allan the pigeon carrier that he is seen carrying in the final shot of the episode. This scene would have presumably given closure to the Will/Djaq/Allan LoveTriangle, but as it stands, the audience doesn't even get to see these three characters say goodbye to each other.
