* AllStarCast: When ''RWBY'' first began, the cast consisted of Rooster Teeth's staff. For the first two volumes, the only recognizable actor in the show was Jen Taylor, the voice of Cortana from ''Franchise/{{Halo}}'' and Princess Peach from ''Franchise/SuperMarioBros''. Since the third volume, however, more recognizable voice actors (mostly from Funimation) joined the cast, playing roles both major and minor. Sorted by volume debut:

** Volume 9 as well as itsBonus Ending Animatic was made free for all viewers as opposed to being exclusive to First members, due to the impending closure of the website.

* CreatorsApathy: Despite their Japanese division distributing the series in Japan and allowing Rooster Teeth with partner with Creator/DCComics, Warner Bros. doesn't seem that much interested in the RWBY franchise overall, seeing as they plan to sell off the entire franchise, warts and all, to another company instead of inheriting the [=IP=] from Rooster Teeth.

** The first eight volumes debuted on Rooster Teeth's official website. Two years after the eighth volume concluded, the ninth volume premiered exclusively on Website/{{Crunchyroll}}.

* CashCowFranchise: The show is so popular it inspires spin-offs and big events, and also [[https://rwby.wikia.com/wiki/RWBY_Merchandise impressive quantities of merchandise]] - and has won Rooster Teeth some previously untapped demographics and markets. Just the fact that the board game ''Combat Ready'' got to its $250,000 Kickstarter goal in four days, and finished with more than triple that ($795k) shows ''RWBY'' downright prints money for its creator.

** Bisexsual actress Lindsay Sheppard voices Saphron Cotta-Arc, who has a wife and son.

** Volume 3 starts with Ruby talking to her mother Summer's grave, and the shot of the crows flying into the setting sun is deliberately designed to form the shape of Monty Oum's artistic personal signature. Monty died before the volume's start, so Ruby talking also acts as the Rooster Teeth crew talking to Monty; the scene of Ruby talking to Summer's grave was the last scene Monty ever worked on. At the volume's end, after several deaths in the show, a slow song mourning the loss of someone who changed the lives of those around them plays over the credits, which end InMemoriam to Monty. "Let's Just Live" from the Volume 4 soundtrack is also a tribute to Monty while applying to the character deaths as well.

** Like her character May Marigold, Kdin Jenzen is a transgender woman.

** Opponents of pairings between two or more of the eponymous team's members will quote Creator/MontyOum as saying that he imagined them as being close in platonic, "sisterly" ways, the implication (or outright statement) being that it would go against his vision. However, no proof that Oum ever said anything like this has surfaced as of yet.

** While the first six volumes were originally added to Website/YouTube, all episodes of RWBY besides the very first one were removed from the platform right before Volume 8 aired on the Rooster Teeth Website. A later Q&A released before Volume 9's debut confirmed that Rooster Teeth wouldn't post any new episodes from the main series in the platform anymore due to Website/YouTube greatly decreasing the ad revenue received from their videos.

* ChristmasRushed: For most of the show's runtime, production isn't done for the entire season before it starts airing, leading to the crew having to rush in the final hours before the airdate. At least one episode of Volume 3 was only finished rendering with hours to spare before it was due online. Volume 5's storyboards were only drawn a few weeks before their episode's airdates. It got even worse in Volume 6 where many of crew also had to work on ''WebAnimation/GenLock'' leading to an unhealthy crunch environment. The writing team eventually admitted it was causing quality to drop and have promised to keep more ahead for Volume 7 and beyond.

* CreatorsPest: Miles is known to hate Adam Taurus as a character, an attitude shared by many within the animation team and also by Garrett Hunter, who admitted saying Adam's lines creeps him out. Miles even included a footnote in the Volume 5 script when Blake smacks Adam down saying "fuck you Adam Taurus." This even extended to calling him "The Worst."

** In the Japanese dub, Creator/MegumiToyoguchi was temporarily replaced as Pyrrha by Creator/ShizukaIto in Volume 3 due to Toyoguchi going on maternity leave. Togoyuchi later [[TheOriginalDarrin redubbed]] Pyrrha as part of a bonus disc.

* OutlivedItsCreator: Creator/MontyOum died several months before Volume 3 premiered, but had left notes on the entire plot outline and ideas for the main characters as adults. In one livestream, the writers said the plot overview alone could be made into 20 volumes worth of story, but the length of the show will ultimately depend on how Miles and Kerry structure the content going forward (current guesstimates by the crew suggest they're aiming for about twelve volumes total).

** Creator/CristinaValenzuela desired to join the show via [[https://twitter.com/CristinaVee/status/794989694371172353 tweet]] way back in 2016. She was eventually cast in Volume 7 as Robyn Hill.

** Creator/AmandaLee has done three covers of songs for the show and gets to join the cast in Volume 8.

* ActingForTwo: For Volume 9, Creator/BrendanBlaber voices the Jinxy Peddler as well as some one-off characters.

* PlayingTheirOwnTwin:
** Maggie Tominey plays the Malachite twins, Melanie and Miltia.
** In a similar vein, the twin stepsisters are played by Amanda Lee.

Later when Roman made another appearance in the series, he was instead voiced by Creator/BillyKametz with some of his lines also being done by Creator/ChristopherWehkamp who also took over the role from Kametz in Ice Queendom due to Billy Kametz's passing in 2022.

* ProductionNickname: The Herbalist's Ascended form was nicknamed "Butterflerb" in the director's commentary for Volume 9.

** Torchwick's original voice actor was producer Gray Haddock who left the company in 2019 under a cloud of allegations. Creator/BillyKametz was his initial replacement; after succumbing to cancer before completing his lines, the role was recast as Creator/ChristopherWehkamp. Creator/BillyKametz's lines were preserved to honour him, so "[[Recap/RWBYV9E8TeaAmidstTerribleTrouble Tea Amidst Terrible Trouble]]" contains lines from both actors.

** As of Volume 9 Tyrian Callows is now voiced by an unknown voice actor due to Jessie James Grelle serving ties with Roosterteeth.

** Creator/AnairisQuinones voices both Harriet Bree and Camilla.
** Besides taking over as Qrow Branwen from the seventh volume onwards, Creator/JasonLiebrecht voices the Hound.
** Creator/LuciChristian voices Lil' Miss Malachite, Fria and Little.
** For Volume 9, Creator/BrendanBlaber voices the Jinxy Peddler as well as some one-off characters.

"mature".
