** Volume 3 starts with Ruby talking to her mother Summer's grave, and the shot of the crows flying into the setting sun is deliberately designed to form the shape of Monty Oum's artistic personal signature. Monty died before the volume's start, so Ruby talking also acts as the Rooster Teeth crew talking to Monty; the scene of Ruby talking to Summer's grave was the last scene Monty ever worked on. At the volume's end, after several deaths in the show, a slow song mourning the loss of someone who changed the lives of those around them plays over the credits, which end InMemoriam to Monty. "Let's Just Live" from the Volume 4 soundtrack is also a tribute to Monty while applying to the character deaths as well.

** Volume 9 lost an entire episode due to budget mismanagement, forcing the writers to hastily kitbash several scripts and concepts together to compensate. It also eventually came out that Rooster Teeth's budget for the season was low enough that more episodes were at risk of being cut before Crunchyroll bought exclusivity of the season for a year.
