** Chris Columbus tried to get a sequel off the ground for a long time (despite the source novel not having any), but Robin Williams was unsatisfied with every script. In a tragic twist, it finally did get some forward momentum in 2014, but Williams' suicide that year naturally ended any chance of it, as Columbus felt it'll be impossible to find [[TheOtherDarrin anyone else]] who can match Williams' talent.

** Creator/RobinWilliams also ad-libbed his dialogue during the scene where he's serving tea to Mrs. Sellner with the cake icing on his face. The icing mixture applied to his face for the scene was rapidly melting under the hot set lights, causing it to liberally drip off his face. Being a master of improvisation, William instead turned this messy occurrence into a moment of comedy gold for the film.

** Robin William's character walks off the set after he's forced to play a cartoon character who smokes. Around this time, Williams was in a very heated feud with Disney over the fact that they used him for marketing to promote ''WesternAnimation/{{Aladdin}}'', which he explicitly tried to stop them from doing. They even went so far as to sabotage the production of ''WesternAnimation/FernGully'', which Williams also worked on, just so he could devote his energies to ''Aladdin''.

* VoicedDifferentlyInTheDub: Daniel's disguise is completely convincing in the original version, including the voice he uses for Mrs. Doubtfire. In some of the dubs, the voice actor performing Daniel's dialogue simply does an obvious burlesque of a man imitating a woman's voice, dramatically altering the effect by rendering Mrs. Doubtfire a PaperThinDisguise.

Doing some deep research, not ALL of those A-list actors were considered for the titular role. Found the actors who were actually considered for the part during early production stages.

** Creator/WarrenBeatty was Anne Fine's first choice for the role of Daniel Hillard before Creator/RobinWilliams was cast. Fine thought it would be hysterical to see Beatty dressing up and pretending to be an elderly woman due to Beatty's well-known reputation of being a [[TheCasanova charismatic womanizer.]]
*** Creator/TomHanks, Creator/BillMurray, Creator/BryanCranston, Creator/HarrisonFord, and Creator/MelGibson were considered for the titular part as well before the casting of Williams.
** Creator/TimAllen was offered the role of Stu Dunmeyer before the casting of Creator/PierceBrosnan. However, Allen turned it down due to filming commitments with ''Series/HomeImprovement''.
** Creator/BlakeLively was the runner-up for the part of Natalie Hillard before Creator/MaraWilson was cast.

** The original author suggested Creator/WarrenBeatty for the role of Daniel because she thought it would be funny to see him (a known womanizer) having to disguise himself as an old lady in a film. Other candidates included Creator/JasonAlexander, Creator/RowanAtkinson, Creator/KevinBacon, Creator/AlecBaldwin, Creator/JeffBridges, Creator/MatthewBroderick, Creator/JohnCandy, Creator/JimCarrey, Creator/ChevyChase, Creator/BryanCranston, Creator/BillyCrystal, Creator/JeffDaniels, Creator/RobertDeNiro, Creator/ChrisFarley, Creator/HarrisonFord, Creator/MichaelJFox, Creator/RichardGere, Creator/MelGibson, Creator/JohnGoodman, Creator/TomHanks, Creator/DavidHasselhoff, Creator/DustinHoffman, Creator/MichaelKeaton, Creator/KevinKline, Creator/WayneKnight, Creator/NathanLane, Creator/SteveMartin, Creator/DudleyMoore, Creator/BillMurray, Creator/MikeMyers, Creator/BillPaxton, Creator/DennisQuaid, Creator/KurtRussell, Creator/AdamSandler, Creator/ArnoldSchwarzenegger, Creator/MartinShort and Creator/JohnTravolta.
** The role of Stu was written with Creator/TimAllen in mind, but he turned it down due to scheduling conflicts with ''Series/HomeImprovement''.

** Creator/BlakeLively was considered for Natalie Hillard, and made it to the final round of auditions between her and Creator/MaraWilson.
** Chris Columbus tried to get a sequel off the ground for a long time (despite the source novel not having any), but Robin Williams was unsatisfied with every script. In a tragic twist, it finally did get some forward momentum in 2014, but Williams' suicide naturally ended any chance of it.
