Upon reflection, the Role Reprise trope is used for actors who return to a role after a significant break. Since Zeta Gundam is a direct sequel to the series and aired shortly after Gundam, it's Not An Example. Removing.

* FollowTheLeader: The emphasis on TransformingMecha makes sense when you consider what came out between the original series and ''Zeta''--specifically, ''Anime/SuperDimensionFortressMacross'' and ''Franchise/{{Transformers}}'' (along with its predecessor lines Diaclone and Microman). This posed a problem with the model kits for years as some of the mecha designs were nearly impossible to translate to toy form. Zeta's transformation was a particular problem since it involves the abdomen scrunching together and the arms folding in, a feat that was unable to be pulled off reliably until the Master Grade Zeta 2.0 released in 2004. If anything, the ''Zeta'' designs forced model technology to advance rapidly.

Removal: Unproven, contradicted rumors. Tomino has been married since 1971 and has at least two children. Tomino was at the marriage of Nagano and Kawamura in 1991. The circumstances regarding Four's recasting are convoluted but there is no evidence it's anything like what this entry alleges.

* RealitySubtext: According to backstage rumor, Reccoa and Scirocco's storyline was at least partly based on voice actress Creator/MariaKawamura (the voice of Beltorchika, whose character probably also took some hits from this) and character and mecha designer extraordinaire MamoruNagano, who were the other two thirds of a LoveTriangle Tomino was involved in during production. Kawamura and Nagano got married, actually, and still are.
** Zeta seems to be a veritable lightning rod for backstage drama. There's also the infamous recasting of Four in the compilation movies, allegedly due to a CastingCouch arrangement between Creator/{{Yukana}} and the director, as well as Rosamia's much reduced role as a result of the casting director having been married to her original voice actress Kyouko Fujii and then divorcing ''messily'', resulting in her being replaced by Creator/YuuAsakawa.

Hey Its That Guy cut by TRS decision. Ditto for Hey Its That Voice. If they fit the other tropes, put them back, but please check first.

* HeyItsThatGuy / HilariousInHindsight: Bit character Gates Capa (voiced by Creator/KazukiYao) was complicit in brainwashing [[WithGreatPowerComesGreatInsanity Cyber-Newtype]] [[PsychopathicManchild Rosamia Badam]] into believing that the former is her older brother. He would later voice the protagonist Judau Ashta of the sequel, ''[[Anime/MobileSuitGundamZZ ZZ]]'' and much of his motivation in the series is actually becoming a genuine older brother.
** Creator/NobuoTobita (Kamille) and Creator/BinShimada (Scirocco) reunites together again... in the Japanese dub of ''WesternAnimation/TheSimpsons'' as Milhouse and Krusty The Clown respectively. Except that, in ''The Simpsons'', Kamille ''is one of the biggest fans of Scirocco'' instead of his biggest ''enemy''.
* HeyItsThatGuy / {{Japandering}}: A rare musical version -- the popular opening theme, ''[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3BqbDO2iS_U Zeta - Toki wo Koete]]'' was written by '60s pop maven Music/NeilSedaka. According to TheOtherWiki, he actually did write the theme, adapting it from the song [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bipWWEq26RU "Better Days are Coming"]] off of his 1972 album ''Solitaire''. He also did likewise for the second opening theme (from which he drew upon an unreleased song of his) and the ending theme (from "Bad and Beautiful" from 1976's ''Stepping Out''). This is the reason that they were excised from the US release -- Sedaka owns the rights to the songs outside Japan and for whatever reason his clearance was not obtained, [[BadExportForYou prompting the titular Gundam's theme as a replacement]]. ([[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VN1Zi841NHA The replacement theme]])
* HeyItsThatVoice: Creator/MayaOkamoto's and Creator/YukoMizutani had their ''debut'' roles in ''Zeta'' and for Jamitov: Tomomichi "[[StreetFighter M. Bison]]" Nishimura, anyone?

** A different design for the title mech resembling a Gundamized version of his Anime/HeavyMetalLGaim mark II or Junchoon from ''Manga/TheFiveStarStories''.

** Haman Karn having a completely different character design with white hair and a flamboyant red and white costume similar to ''FSS'''s Mirage Knights.
** The Hambrabi (which was originally known as the Methuss) being an AEUG MS designed as an artillery spotter for the Zeta's Hyper Mega Launcher. This gets a nod in ''[[VideoGame/GundamVsSeries Gundam Vs. Zeta]]'' when Four pilots it alongside Camille in an alternate timeline where Camille joins the Titans.
