* WorkingTitle: ''Librium''. This was also the original name of the drug in the film, you can still see some of the actors mouthing this word with the name of the drug [[DubNameChange replaced]]. Because “Librium” is the actual commercial name of a well-known real-world [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chlordiazepoxide sedative]], the name had to be replaced; another alternative tested during post-production was “Oblivion” (with a long “O”).

* {{Blooper}}: In the film, Preston supposedly swapped his government-issued (and personalized) gun with Brandt's to frame him for killing the Sweeper patrol. However, the swapping scene comes ''after'' the killing scene, and in any case he used two guns in the fight and only swapped one. This was a goof on the director's part, as the narrative was shuffled in editing to improve the pacing, they decided to let the plot hole slide when they realized because they were running against the clock. Some fans have come up with some HandWave for why it makes sense if you think about it hard enough, usually fueled by an earlier scene where [[spoiler:Preston picks up and hands Brandt his gun.]]

Creator Chosen Casting is when the casting of an adaptation is influenced by the creator of the work being adapted. If the work wasn't an adaptation, it doesn't count.

* CreatorChosenCasting: Creator/ChristianBale was always Kurt Wimmer's first choice for John Preston after seeing him in ''Film/AmericanPsycho''.

* VindicatedByCable: The film was released with minimal promotion and was savaged as a low-rent ''Matrix'' rip-off. It took a few years, but people came around to appreciating it on its own merits and managed to make back enough money in home video sales so that Kurt Wimmer could go on to make the big-budget ''Film/Ultraviolet2006''.

You'd have to stretch the definition of All Star Cast too far to fit this film in. Bale is really the only star. The rest are either lower-tier lead actors or veteran character actors. Not stars.

* AllStarCast: Aside from Americans Creator/WilliamFichtner and Creator/TayeDiggs, the cast is full of fairly well-known (or soon to be well-known) British actors, including Creator/ChristianBale, Creator/EmilyWatson, Creator/AngusMacfadyen, Creator/SeanBean, and one of the last roles of [[Film/DeepRed David Hemmings]].

* RealitySubtext: Berettas were chosen as Preston's guns because they eject upwards, which director Kurt Wimmer felt made for more dynamic visuals.
