** Penguin gives an epic one to Batman, outlining that he is a NecessaryEvil and is probably even more responsible for Gotham's safety than the Dark Knight himself.
--> '''Penguin:''' Let me tell you something, Batman. It was ''never'' about ''you''. You always thought you were the one keeping the balance between control and chaos in Gotham. But ''I'' ran the crime in this city. What every good businessman understands is that one's business can '''never''' become obsolete. So I supplied the tools of the trade to Joker, and Riddler, and Scarecrow… but I never supplied them so ''much'', or so ''well'', that in the end you couldn't prevail. I would make my bank, and trade would continue at a… well, a rate "acceptable" to the police and the populace. Statistically, our crime rate was ''lower'' than Metropolis. '''I did that!''' But you got arrogant, Batman. You started believing you really were the savior of this city, and not just one piece of a bigger conglomerate. ''My'' conglomerate. And then along comes [[VilerNewVillain Umbrella Man]], [[NoNonsenseNemesis who has no interest in playing "theater" with you and your rogues gallery. Who doesn't care about "balance".]] And now, Batman, you're useless. So turn around. Walk away. [[BadGuysDoTheDirtyWork Let me deal with Umbrella Man.]]\\
'''Batman:''' Do you think for one second that I would turn my back on ''you?''\\
'''Penguin:''' Look at yourself. You have turned your back on Gotham right now. How many assaults, rapes, murders are happening while '''you''' stand here posturing at me? Leave, and I'll give you back the Gotham you used to think was yours.

--->'''Superman:''' You know what, Kara? Ever since you showed up on Earth, you've been trying to get me to do one thing — leave you alone to let you live your own life. You've been so focused on just being angry — yes, you lost your home, and that's terrible, but you can't bring it back.\\
'''Supergirl:''' What are you saying?\\
'''Superman:''' You've been choosing anger instead of acceptance for so long that you've become anger. You want to be your own person? Good. Be your own person. I just hope you like who you turn out to be.
** ''ComicBook/ElseworldsFinestSupergirlAndBatgirl'': Supergirl gave a short and blunt speech to Batgirl after the latter insulted her family and her idealistic mindset:
--->'''Supergirl:''' They mean the world to me: Lex... my family...\\

She fled to Earth and drains the abilities of Power Girl whom she had concluded was the most powerful female hero of Earth. Rana claims that her actions are for her people but Power Girl doesn't buy it:
--->'''Power Girl''': Oh, cut the crap. You don't want to be a hero. You want to be ''super''.\\
'''Rana''': What's that supposed to mean?\\
'''Power Girl''': This isn't about your people at all. [[ItsAllAboutMe This is about you]]. [[NotSoWellIntentionedExtremist If all you really cared about was helping your people, you would have gone about this in a vastly different way.]]\\

'''Rana''': How dare you? What makes you so sure?\\
'''Power Girl''': Because a hero doesn't hurt other people to get what she wants. There's a name for people who do that. They're called villains.
** In ''ComicBook/AMindSwitchInTime'', Superman finally reaches his rage-breaking point and beats Lex Luthor up while pointing how stupid and short-sighted Lex really is.
--->'''Superman:''' No, we can't have trash like you cluttering the streets-- or wouldn't you love to have someone trip over you and get hurt? Isn't that what you live for... Menacing innocent people with your insane gimmicks? Face it, Lex Luthor... The future would be better off without you! You're a menace! Look at your latest trick! Or did you ever stop and think what would happen to the world without a Superman to protect it? All the disasters the future holds that only I could handle? I'd be doing the world a favor by putting an end to you right now... Before you grow up to be an even greater menace!
** ''ComicBook/TheKillersOfKrypton'': Kara cuts off Empress Gandelo's self-righteous rant by stating she is one of the worst monsters she has ever met.
--->'''Supergirl''': I've fought my fair share of monsters in my time-- But you are neck and neck with Darkseid on the pure evil scale. Tell me, Gandelo, how do you drown out the screams of your victims? Do they haunt you? Because the voices of Krypton-- of Kandor-- I hear them always. And I do this for them! They demand justice.
** In ''ComicBook/StrangersAtTheHeartsCore'', Klax-Ar -a Kryptonian criminal who attempted to blow Krypton up but failed and lost his natural powers in the process-, demands Supergirl transfers her powers to him on grounds of being worthier of them than her. Supergirl rapidly fires back he is not entitled to have powers, no matter how big his delusions are.

'''Supergirl:''' Bunk! You sold your birthright when you turned against your home planet!
** In ''ComicBook/TheHuntForReactron'', the eponymous and usually smug villain begs for mercy when he is being beaten up by Flamebird. Flamebird mercilessly denounces him as a coward, unrepentant bully who preys on the weak mercilessly and grovels when he is facing a superior foe.

'''Dinah Lance:''' I can't. Out on the streets, I never give up. I never quit. But I can't fight this— not anymore. Deep down, you always wanted to be alone. Congratulations, Ollie. You win.\\
''[Dinah leaves and Oliver looks at her wedding ring.]''
** In ''Justice League: The Rise of Arsenal'' #2, Roy calls Oliver out on being a bad father to him:
-->'''Roy Harper:''' Are you friggin' kidding me? You're in jail—big deal. Look at me, Ollie. Look at Me! I lost my arm. Prometheus maimed me, but none of it even registers because she's gone. Lian's dead My… My… …My little girl.\\
'''Oliver Queen:''' I know, Roy. I'm so sorry. I'd do anything to bring her back anything. I tried to make it right— make him pay. But killing Prometheus didn't change a thing.\\
'''Roy Harper:''' Maybe for you. But it would have changed everything for me. Getting back at Prometheus was the only thing I had left anymore. He took my arm. He took Lian. But you took my revenge from me, Ollie. What now? You tell me. What am I supposed to do now?\\
'''Oliver Queen:''' The same thing we always have— you keep going. It's all we can do. I might be behind bars, but that doesn't mean I won't be here for you.\\
'''Roy Harper:''' Seriously? You're here for me? Ollie, you've never been there for me. Maybe when it was convenient for you, but never when it really mattered. It's the same with me as it is with Connor, or even Mia for that matter. You're no father— you just like to pretend you are from time to time. And that's why you'll never understand what I'm going though right now. You don't know what it's like to be a father— to really be a father.\\
'''Oliver Queen:''' Roy, listion—\\
'''Roy Harper:''' Listen? To what? You can't help me Ollie. You can't even help yourself.
* In ''[Franchise/GreenLantern]'' ''[ComicBook/GreenLanternRebirth]'' John Stewart gave one to Franchise/{{Batman}} after the latter, who had up to that point in the story had been drawn completely in shadow, badmouths Hal one too many times.
--> '''John Stewart:''' I'm ''tired'' of this. I'm tired of the disrespect Batman ''slings'' Hal's way. You've ''always'' had a thing against him, haven't you? And I finally ''see'' why. ''(illuminating Batman with his ring, revealing his true appearance - a man in a costume)'' Hal is the ''one'' person in the ''world'' that didn't ''buy'' what you're ''selling''. Hal was the man ''without fear''. And what is "the Batman" when you're not afraid of him? ''Just a man''.
* ''ComicBook/HalJordanAndTheGreenLanternCorps'': Soranik Natu delivers a particularly scathing one to Kyle Rayner in issue #24 for [[spoiler:hiding from her that Sarko, the villain that he'd killed earlier and whom she was just done ''autopsying'', was actually their son from the future]].
--> '''Soranik:''' You forget that I'm a Natu by name, but a Sinestro by blood. Fear is the family gift. I feel it throbbing inside you. The fear that made you keep your secret. Fear that I wouldn't want to be with you. Fear that I'd be the love you let slip away. You fear a wounded heart! You can't hide from your fear, ''alley rat''.
* In ''ComicBook/InjusticeGodsAmongUs'': Year Zero, Poison Ivy delivers one to Joker after he abuses Harley one too many times, choking him with vines to drive the point home.
-->'''Joker:''' You think...hnn...you think you can threaten ''me?''\\
'''Poison Ivy:''' Of course I can. You're not special. You're not exceptional. You're like every other pathetic troll, lashing out, hoping someone who's actually worth a damn will pay attention. You want Batman to notice you and he does, but not because you're worthy, not because he needs you. It's because he feels sorry for you. You're an object of pity for him.
-->'''Joker:''' You [[SymbolSwearing @#$%!]]\\
'''Poison Ivy:''' And Harley feels the most pity for you. She looks at you and sees a sad, broken man who needs fixing.\\
'''Joker:''' Heh. She'll...hnng...still come crawling back.\\
'''Poison Ivy:''' Maybe. But every time she leaves she gets further away. Every time your gaslighting bull[[SymbolSwearing @#$%]] gets a little less effective. Harley is special. She's managed to grow despite your rot. You know it. And she'll realize it one day soon, too.\\
'''Joker:''' If you think...hrrr...you'll get away with this-\\
'''Poison Ivy:''' ''You're not in control!'' (binds Joker tighter with vines, breaking his nose) You will wake up tomorrow because I ''allowed'' it. And because she'd never forgive me if you didn't. But you're not powerful. You're a [[SymbolSwearing @#$%&@$#]] joke.
* ''Comicbook/{{Supergirl}}'':
** In ''Comicbook/RedDaughterOfKrypton'' Superman gives one to his cousin after Supergirl went off on him, pointing out that she's clung to her anger for so long that she can't get rid of it now, and she always pushes him away even though she constantly complains that she's alone:
'''Batgirl:''' Spare me! The Society's not a family. It's the gods of Olympus looking down on the little people below. You have no clue what real life is!\\
'''Supergirl:''' And you do? Living like a worm underground?
** In ''[[ComicBook/Supergirl2005 The Hunt for Reactron]]'', ComicBook/LoisLane gives Catherine Grant a very scathing - and very accurate - speech, calling Cat out on having become a war-mongering tool.
--->'''Lois Lane:''' Are you even a '''reporter''', Cat? Don't you have a '''shred''' of integrity? Or is '''pandering''' with lies and innuendo just that much '''easier''' for you? This '''isn't''' journalism! It's '''PROPAGANDA'''! And '''that''' makes you a '''tool'''. How you can '''stand''' to look at yourself in the mirror, Cat?
* ''Franchise/{{Superman}}'':
** Superman delivers one of these to ComicBook/LanaLang after she detonated a thousand kryptonite bombs around the world, an action that nearly made the planet uninhabitable not only to Superman, but to anyone with Kryptonian DNA, including ''Comicbook/PowerGirl'', ''ComicBook/{{Supergirl}}'', ''ComicBook/{{Superboy}}'', and ''[[ComicBook/KryptoTheSuperdog Krypto]]''. After the radioactive mess is cleaned up, Supes has a chat with Lana.
--->'''Superman:''' [[WhatMightHaveBeen You might wonder sometimes]] -- I know I have -- what life would have been like had we... had you and I... Had it been '''you''' instead of [[Comicbook/LoisLane Lois]]. And you might have wondered why it '''wasn't''' you instead of Lois... Lois would never have pushed that button.
** In ''ComicBook/SupermanUpUpAndAway'', Superman gives one to ComicBook/LexLuthor.
--->'''Superman:''' You've always claimed you could make this world a paradise if I weren't around to stop you. You had a year without me around. [[ArmorPiercingQuestion What have you done?]]
** In ''Comicbook/KryptonNoMore'', Superman gives the speech to a corrupt businessman who is more concerned with making a profit than his employees' health:
--->'''Superman:''' Hold it! Men are dying, Kalmbach — getting cancer from working in your vats — and you say that risk is acceptable? NO! People like you are destroying this planet, killing its people, ruining its future — and for WHAT? Profit — Greed — and some sick illusion called "Progress"!
** In ''Comicbook/WarWorld'', Comicbook/MartianManhunter chews Franchise/{{Superman}} out for being too arrogant and impulsive.
--->'''Superman:''' Forgive me, J'onn... Looks like I failed you!\\
'''Martian Manhunter:''' No, not me, Superman —It's the entire universe that will have to pay the price of your failure! I warned you that you were dealing with forces beyond your comprehension — but you were just too overconfident — too egotistical — to listen!
** ''Comicbook/TheSupergirlFromKrypton'': Superman gives Darkseid one of these:
--->'''Superman:''' Of course, none of what I've said has any meaning to you. You only know death. A blackness that has brought you nothing.\\
'''Darkseid:''' It has made me a god.\\
'''Superman:''' No. It has made you vulnerable.
** In ''ComicBook/WhoTookTheSuperOutOfSuperman''
*** Morgan Edge tries to bully Clark Kent into compliance, but for once Clark isn't getting it:
---->'''Morgan Edge:''' No backtalk, Kent! I call the shots around here and when I decide I need a man to do a report from Chile that man goes to Chile-- hear me talking, Kent?\\
'''Clark Kent:''' But, Mr.Edge, I...\\
'''Morgan Edge:''' I don't care what you've got going next week--\\
'''Clark Kent:''' But...\\
'''Morgan Edge:''' I suggest you travel light!\\
'''Clark Kent:''' Hold your flapping mouth, you barrel of overpriced lard! You might treat your other employees like cattle... But the cattle train stops right here!
*** Superman delivers one to Xviar after foiling his scheme to destroy Earth:
---->'''Superman:''' The instant I defeated Amalak and Brainiac, you switched bodies with Amalak, knowing I would imprison him far from Earth... where your superiors would soon release you! Only they won't bother freeing a failure! You'll stay here... along with the real Amalak!
** In ''ComicBook/WhoIsSuperwoman'', the titular villain attempts to murder Supergirl after framing her for murder and finds she's bitten more than she can chew. Superwoman asks for mercy but she only gets an enraged retort in return:
--->'''Supergirl:''' You're asking for mercy? Like Agent Liberty got?! Like poor Mister Henderson!? Like my father!? You don't deserve mercy, you deserve a beating!
* Catman gives a nasty one to the Crime Doctor in ''Villains United'' by breaking free of his shackles and explaining how he's nothing but a vulture picking off the meat on the bones of captured prey, putting him low on the ladder and then royally screwing him up.
* ''ComicBook/{{Watchmen}}'' sequel ''ComicBook/DoomsdayClock'' shows Ozymandias giving one to [[spoiler: Batman (and to the extent the rest of the DC superheroes in general)]] when it comes to their antics and how they contributed to their world compared to his.
--> '''[[spoiler: Ozymandias]]''': I've read and seen enough to know you're tripping over your own capes, playing a game of tag, while the world falls apart. You've put these people through hell. [[CrapsackWorld Your world is worse off than mine ever was]]. Look at the sheer number of people you lost in the narrative of Good versus Bad. Wandering aimlessly in a fog of self-righteousness. You're so busy putting these "super-villains" into [[CardboardPrison prisons with revolving doors]], [[ReedRichardsIsUseless you've ignored the world's real problems]]. And now you're caught in this vicious cycle of entertaining yourselves. You cling to a simplistic morality based on pulp heroes. I wonder. [[spoiler: Is that why Jon came here? To observe the futility of your colorful lives? Or did he come here believing he would blend in?]] I weaned my world off gasoline and oil. I cured famine and disease. I negotiated nuclear disarmament. I turned the world upside down. [[IDidWhatIHadToDo I did whatever I had to, to try and save it.]] And, yes, I failed. [[ArmorPiercingQuestion But what have you tried to do to make this world a better place?]]
