* The Simpsons, having escaped from the angry townspeople who tried to kill them, are hiding inside a motel suite. Bart [[DrowningMySorrows is drinking a small bottle of whiskey to cope of what just happened]], and despite Marge's attempt to stop him, Bart finishes up the bottle and passes out, but not before he angrily admits to Marge, Lisa and Maggie that he misses Flanders so much because of the latter's [[NiceGuy]] attitude. After what he has been through, you can't help but feel a little sorry for him.

** Homer gets another moment when he realized too late that he cost the townspeople's chance to escape the dome and accidentally setting the bomb from 8:23 minutes to 4:11 minutes, prompting the enraged townspeople to drive him out from their presence by throwing rocks at him. And despite the townspeople's failed attempt to kill him at the Simpson house, [[NotWorthKilling they refused to do so again because they know that they will all die thanks to Homer's actions]]. Only when learning that using a motorcycle can help him ride and throw the bomb up through the top of the dome, he regains his confidence.

** Then the tape really does cut to their wedding dance, making it clear just how serious Marge is about all of this. And this is the same tape that she ran into a burning house to save.
** It's easy to miss, but in the seconds of staticky transition, you can see in the reflection that Homer has crawled from the bed to right in front of the TV, looking properly heartbroken. He's lost his true love, his kids, every bit of his old life, because of his own selfishness, and it's shattered him.
** And then a DarkReprise of their love song [[Music/{{Carpenters}} "(They Long To Be) Close To You"]] is the background as he goes to find them.

** Then it's followed by the biggest gut-punch for the audience: [[MoodWhiplash the scene then fades to black]], with a ToBeContinuedRightNow gag.
* Homer's DespairEventHorizon, as seen in the picture. Far from Springfield (but not as far as he thinks), his sled dogs are gone, his HeroicResolve running out, and too exhausted to argue with himself, he passes out in the snow. Good thing he gets woken up by a vision of The Boob Lady.
* Dr. Nick's apparent death.
