** It's hard not to feel a bit sorry for [[YouHaveFailedMe Captain Crigg's fate]], especially since what screen time we get of him depicts him as just as meek and pathetic as any other Urpney.

** The fact it's a long term BrokenPedestal. Throughout the first season, Urpgor had been smugly assured Zordrak valued him far more than any grunt in his army (even during times he'd been duplicitous towards him), when in fact he hated his guts the most, and was just waiting for [[YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness the ideal moment he could be rid of him]]. Episodes after generally portray Urpgor as much more of a JerkassWoobie who labours as much as the Urpney trio and yet gets the most distain from Zordrak.

* Urpgor is an obnoxious JerkAss who constantly insults the other Urpneys and takes great pleasure in seeing them suffer. And yet, there's just something pitiful about seeing him break down crying and beg Zordrak not to fire him in "The Nightmare Stone".

** At the end, Frizz and Nug discover the heroes' missing leaves and orb which spring to life and give them a NoHoldsBarredBeatdown [[CosmicPlaything just for being at the wrong place at the wrong time.]] Frizz and Nug break down sobbing over the unfairness of it all. * In cases such as "The Dream Beam Invasion" and "The Substitute" we see Noop children waking up crying terrified as a result of suffering a nightmare. [[DisproportionateRetribution As overblown as the Urpneys' punishments often are]], it's a bit easier to see from such cases why the heroes are so upset by what they do.

* In "The Monster" the robotic creature is gently swayed by Amberley into retreating and not terrorising people anymore. Unfortunately it interprets this as terminating itself, pressing it's off switch and falling apart.

* An understated one, but in "Urpgor's Great Adventure" it is Amberley that ends up losing the stone to the Urpneys. Considering it is usually her lecturing Rufus for being careless, she comes off as so [[InferioritySuperiorityComplex pitifully deflated and meek]] from screwing up this time round.

* Several examples in "Albert's Ailment":
** Albert's disease is portrayed as rather heart wrenching, particularly the moments he is howling in agony.
** After the heroes are captured, Amberley is convinced Wildit has a plan. Wildit just gazes with a defeated look, [[OOCIsSeriousBusiness for a rare moment, not knowing what to do.]] Then Rufus discovers a knife and things spring back.

* While it's PlayedForLaughs a lot more, it's really hard not to feel bad for Frizz and Nug's fates in some episodes, especially ones they frantically wanted no part of. In some cases Frizz breaks down in tears from his abuse.

* The pilot. While Rufus would spend the majority of the series playing a HeroAntagonist, he [[EarnYourHappyEnding Earned His Happy Ending]] is this case no argument. Most notable are his reactions to Pildit's DisneyDeath and managing to find Amberley's [[TakenForGranite stone body]]. Not quite putting two and two together, he notes how lifelike the "statue" is and sheds a single tear on it as he expresses how much he wishes she was back with him safe and sound.
