** It gets even ''worse'' for Gared in Episode 2, as he gets in trouble ''twice'' on his first day at the Wall, and on both occasions it was for problems Finn and Cotter started. First, he's given a lecture because Finn and Cotter were talking during Frostfinger's lecture (although the player can optionally have Gared join in the discussion and thus deserve the lecture in this case), and second, he gets in trouble for a fight Cotter started by stealing Finn's knife.
* Ethan Forrester spends most of Episode 1 growing into his own as a Lord of House Forrester, and he even does an awesome job depending on how you play him only to be murdered in cold blood at the end of Episode 1, receiving the name of Ethan the Brave/Bold/Wise only after he's already dead.

* In episode four, we finally get to hear some of Beshka's back story. The reason she wanted nothing to do with Meereen? She was a child slave forced to fight other children to death, including many she considered friends, for the amusement of her master.
* If you leave the Glenmore guards behind to watch Ironrath in Episode 4, Ramsay shoos them out during the deal with the Whitehills except for Arthur, who he keeps behind and tortures to death. Episode 5 opens with Ramsay leading Rodrik and Talia into the godswood to [[ForcedToWatch make them watch]].

* In Episode 5, Talia tries to make Rodrik promise to kill the traitor, as Talia has discovered who it is. If you instead decide to spare the traitor's life, Talia will be angry with you, but how she shows her anger is different depending on whether or not you previously made a promise. If you didn't promise to kill the traitor, Talia will simply glare at you and then leave the room. But if you did promise to kill the traitor and then broke that promise, Talia will accuse you of being a bigger coward than the traitor is, which will probably feel like a punch to the gut coming from someone as sweet as Talia.
** To make matters worse, if Rodrik is the one who dies at the end of the episode, [[PartingWordsRegret Talia will be haunted with the knowledge that the last thing she every said to her oldest brother was to call him a coward]], [[DespairEventHorizon perhaps blaming herself and wondering if it influenced him to make the decision to sacrifice himself...]]
* The ending of episode 5. You have to choose who will be murdered by Whitehills: Rodrik or Asher. If you choose Rodrik, he'll declare Asher the new lord and urge him to leave. If you choose Asher, Beskha will be on the verge of crying as she calls Asher "little brother." Either way, one of them will have one last standoff with the Whitehills, killing several soldiers until they're finally executed.

** It's no less tear-jerking for Asher, he just set his foot in Westeros after many years of exile in Essos, only to died saving his brother, he hadn't even met his sister and mother, hadn't said a word to them, hadn't heard their voices, hadn't seen their faces and barely reunited with his brother, even that short moment of family reunion is heartwarming, even though it's short-lived. we can expect the surviving brother to make a roaring rampage of revenge in the final episode!

** The final heart-rending straw is that when Asher is piled on by the Whitehill men-at-arms to be stabbed to death, the man who was fearless in life and lived for battle starts to crack and nearly sob as he's restrained; knowing that he won't die as a warrior but as a captive and a trapped animal. [[LastStand Never has the Q key been hammered so hard]], only for [[RealityEnsues a resurgence to be cruelly stopped by a sword pommel to the eye]].

* At the beginning of the game, Gared the squire is about to finally be promoted after his years of hard work and loyal service! That's great, until Lord Forrester, the man about to promote him is killed during the attack, possibly along with his friend Bowen if you chose to warn the Forresters instead of saving him, and he watches Rodrik Forrester get killed, unable to do anything about it. It just gets worse after that, as he discovers his father and sister (who was ''only eight years old'') were murdered in cold blood by the Whitehill family]]. But Gared is able to fight back, so that should reduce the tearjerker, right? Unfortunately after killing one or two of the soldiers depending on whether or not the player chooses to spare the second one, Gared's vengeance for his family is taken as an excuse to bring down the wrath of the Whitehills on the Forresters, and Gared has to be ''sent to the Wall'' to smooth things over. [[{{Understatement}} Gared certainly has it rough.]]
