** The sheer disregard the humans had for that little puppy. The kid didn't want to play with him right away, so what do they do? A. Give it time. It takes time for a child and a new pet to bond. B. Put out an add for anyone else looking for a puppy. C. Turn the puppy in to a shelter or return him to wherever they got him. D. Abandon the poor thing on the side of the road to die.

** And when the poor thing's been rescued by that kind soul that's drying her. She looks like she's been through the wringer, and she's so out of it all she does is mutter "Shadow."

** The last scene. Peter thinks that Shadow didn't make it, after Chance and Sassy come back. He turns, brokenhearted, to go back inside... and Shadow slowly limps up the hill, and then he sees his Boy... and ''runs'' to him.

** Does anybody else cry like a hysterical child when Sassy falls in the river? The panic and desperation in her voice and how the dogs run to save her breaks my heart. Especially when Shadow is ''devastated'' when he fails. Their reunion is so touching.

* A simple one, but definitely for animal lovers. Shadow has just brought a boy out of a burning building and the boy knows that his pet kitten is still inside. (Luckily, Sassy saved it.)

*** When you're little and your Akita thinks you're her puppy, you must hug her and cry into her fur at this point. Seeing it now reminds me of those times watching it with my Chakka and I laugh through my tears.
