* In "Blanket of Snow, Blanket of Woe," Mokey realizes she's forgotten her promise to knit a new tarpaulin for the Trash Heap before the first snowfall. She rushes to see her, only to find her frozen. Philo and Gunge blaming themselves for not being able to have found a new tarpaulin for her only increases Mokey's guilt (though they quickly change their tune after realizing Mokey was the one who promised to make her a new one and forgot). Just try to listen to Philo, Gunge, and Mokey sing "[[TitleDrop Blanket of Snow, Blanket of Woe]]" without tearing up.

** Gobo's story about losing his pet Thimblebug is also particularly poignant when one remembers that Nelson was still mourning the passing of his daughter Christine, whom he'd lost to cystic fibrosis a few years earlier.

* Outside of the series, one line uttered in an interview that Gerry Parkes gave after the series ended: "I miss my Sprocket."
* Pretty much '''everything''' about this show, now that Gerry Parkes (Doc) has passed away. The last two episodes, "The Honk of Honks" and "Change of Address", might be the worst, since both episodes featured Gobo ''finally'' meeting Doc after five seasons[[note]]technically four, but the last season was split into two smaller seasons due to ExecutiveMeddling[[/note]]. Keep in mind that Gobo's puppeteer Jerry Nelson (also the voice of Pa Gorg, The Trash Heap and [[ManOfAThousandVoices many others]]) had passed away two years earlier, in 2012; to see their characters onscreen together is almost too much to bear.
** The aforementioned "I miss my Sprocket" line becomes more poignant as well.
** [[http://www.toughpigs.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/rip-parkes.jpg This tribute]].
* In the children's book ''Wembley and the Soggy Map'', Wembley accidentally spills a radish shake all over a map on which Gobo had been working very hard, and his attempts to fix the map—including trying to wash it in Boober's laundry tub—only make things worse. He's so convinced Gobo will hate him for destroying his map that he decides to move away, and in one particularly poignant moment looks tearfully at a painting Mokey did of him and Gobo together, thinking his friendship with Gobo is over. Gobo's not thrilled about his map being ruined, but assures Wembley they're still friends.
* "[[https://vimeo.com/139422651 The Fraggles Look For Jobs]]" is a video made by the puppeteers after the series finished production in 1986, and it was shown at the wrap party.[[note]]Most of the jokes are {{In Joke}}s and name drops of crew members.[[/note]] While it's mostly funny, the very end of the video, where the Fraggles sing about how they'll meet again someday, is gorgeous as well as gutwrenchingly depressing—topped off by someone giving Mokey a kiss at the very end.
** The puppeteers stepping out to reveal themselves as they performed the final song as the Fraggles was the show's equivalent of the "taking off the wigs" scene from the final episode of ''Series/TheKidsInTheHall''.
** The fact that the show wrapped ''exactly'' four years before Jim died has some rather eerie parallels.
* The final credit from the final episode: "This show is for [[http://muppet.wikia.com/wiki/Don_Sahlin Don Sahlin]]".
** Jim Henson and Jocelyn Stevenson recalled that they came up with the name "Doozers" ''at the same time'' while sitting on a bench that had been Don Sahlin's favorite, and chalked it up to Sahlin lending his expertise from beyond the grave.

*** A minor but poignant one, but it's hard not to feel bad for Wembley as he overhears his friend singing. Even after the other Fraggles come in going about their usual business, Wembley just kind of remains quiet as Gobo tells him he's going to see the Trash Heap for advice. You can tell Wembley wishes he himself could do something to help, even though he doesn't know what to say.

** In the scene directly after Mudwell dies, Wembley sits alone in a HeroicBSOD while his friends discuss how to comfort him. Midway through their conversation, Wembley starts to cry in the background – not the over-the-top bawling his crying scenes usually consist of, but soft, realistic tears that drive home the true seriousness of this sad moment.

** "Just a Dream Away" has lyrics that are particularly profound: ''Once I wasn't here, and then I suddenly appeared... just like water flowing, I know where I'm going... you got to leave, to stay.'' Richard Hunt's death does not help matters.

** Then there's the episode's RealitySubtext. In many ways it was the show's response to all the lives lost in the AIDS crisis, and it was especially personal for the openly gay Richard Hunt (Mudwell), who had lost a romantic partner to AIDS two years earlier, as well as various friends, and five years later would die of the disease himself. With this in mind, not only Wembley's grief, but Mudwell's knowledge that his time is almost up and his fear of how his death will hurt Wembley gain an additional gut-punch.
