However, the protagonist joining the Literature Club only made it worse, because [[GreenEyedEpiphany she got to see him making friends with other girls]]. [[HiddenDepths It puts many of her personality traits into a darker perspective]], and only gets worse after the player character finds that [[DrivenToSuicide she'd hanged herself in her room.]] Let's put it this way, meta-aware {{Yandere}} characters who tamper with the game they're in are one thing, but this sort of thing [[AdultFear can happen to anyone]].

It all culminates with Yuri [[MoralEventHorizon convincing Natsuki that MC is cheating on her]], ultimately leading to [[DrivenToSuicide Natsuki hanging herself after her abusive father finds her out]]. Yuri [[FaceHeelTurn officially turns on the remaining members]] with her fate left unknown, MC [[DrivenToSuicide drowns himself out of grief over Natsuki]] with Monika only able to watch helplessly, and Sayori having to live with the knowledge that her jealously prevented her from potentially stopping the death of two of her best friends.
