* Raichi succumbing down to the pressure of scoring for his team. He gets struck out and Yakushi loses the match against Seidou. Raichi breaks down in tears, but is later told by his senpai that they don't blame him and that they'll be waiting for the day everyone knows his name. This only got sadder when Sawamura went to shake hands with Raichi after the match, only to be completely shocked with how messed up Raichi's hand is from constantly training with his extra heavy wooden bat- saying that Raichi's hand felt as hard as a rock. Swinging his bat is all Raichi knows since he grew up poor with his father while his mother left them.

* Yakushi's loss against Ichidaisan. Yakushi is already popular in the fanbase to begin with, they're such an easy team to love, so seeing the usually wild Raichi sob after failing to catch the batted ball (which resulted in their loss), was hard to see. This only gets sadder considering that it was Sanada's last time.

* Ugumori's backstory. While it is as a whole very tearjerking, the smaller scenes will be what gets you, like when Nao sitting in the middle of the field staring blankly not even seeming to register that his friends have come.

Added DiffLines:

* At the very beginning, the fact that Eijun had to leave his friends behind to play at Seido. Not only he feels he's betraying them after sticking together for so long, but they also feel they're a burden to him for being a mediocre team. Crosses to being heartwarming since they fully support him going to Seido, knowing that he'll become a star player there.

Added DiffLines:

* [[spoiler: The conclusion of the Seido-Inashiro game, which ends in Seido's defeat. Everyone has BrokenTears, it's especially heart-wrenching to watch Eijun and Yuki's reactions.]]
* Chris not making it to the first string and Eijun's reaction.
* Mei's backstory and the effect it has on him.
* It's subtle, but seeing young Miyuki having to care for himself as his father is negligent can tease the heartstrings.
* There is some sadness to every team's loss, as all players have dreams and want to stand on Koshien's stage - and most of them only have that last chance to do it. Sakurazawa's hits particularly hard.
* Ugumori's backstory. While it is as a whole very tearjerking, the smaller scenes will be what gets you, like when Nao sitting in the middle of the field staring blankly not even seeming to register that his friends have come.
