** Public Domain Example: The last episode uses a conspicuously-synthesised piece of music that sounds suspiciously similar to the Hallelujah chorus. Considering that the original song would later turn up in ''NeonGenesisEvangelion'', this example's rather perplexing.

Can you really blame the composer for thinking originality wasn't necessary?
** [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xFCnj2yQ1JQ "Kamigami no Bolero"]] sounds like a tribute to [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Urfjyj4FnUc Ravel's "Bolero"]].
** This and much more Jimmy Harting from the ''Kai'' soundtrack has actually led to Kenji Yamamoto being ''fired'' as well as his entire score being [[http://www.kanzentai.com/index.php?subaction=showcomments&id=1299776510&archive=&start_from=&ucat=4& scrapped]] from all re-runs and future releases of the anime, and even recalling the discs that are out, and delaying overseas releases. A lot of this stuff has also been getting called out from ''DragonBall'' {{video game}} soundtracks he's done over the years, leading to plenty of FanDisillusionment against him.
* The [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IV_KYL62kaw# t=0m59s first opening]] of ''Manga/WeddingPeach'' lends some notes from 1960s singer [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s5aeeSmkPwQ# t=1m52s France Gall]].
** ''SugarSugarRune'''s [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zopSafJApeU theme]] is based on the same song, only more blatantly.
* The second opening of Manga/ToAruKagakuNoRailgun sounds sort of like [[VideoGame/{{Touhou}} Hong Meiling's stage theme.]] [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6FTG7JFmU7A Take a]] [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UbqoImQZ-EY listen.]]
* One of the pieces of music from ''{{Read or Die}}'' sounds like the stock music piece "Valse Aux Champs-Elysees", which was used on RenAndStimpy.
** That's minimal, Read or Die's [[EarWorm main theme]] rips off from every musical aspect of James Bond's main theme... without actually ripping a note from it, and made a much more cohesive, surprising and captivating version, like Picasso (allegedly) said "Good artists borrow, great artists steal".
* The opening song of the ''YuGiOhGX'' English dub sounds an awful lot like Blink 182's "Dammit" at times.
* A track on the ''Literature/{{Baccano}}'' soundtrack, "[[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aOYA5zb6dbA Yurumikatta Kannou no Dance]]", sounds distinctly similar to the famous "[[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=whFUUFo1eXQ Habanera]]" from Suite No. 2 of Bizet's ''Carmen''.
* One of the songs from Manga/AxisPowersHetalia , "Carrots and Sticks", is sung by Belarus and Ukraine. If you pay attention to the background music, it sounds like a pitched-down, remade version of t.A.T.u.'s All The Things She Said.
** To say nothing of the music cue for the opening titles, which strongly evokes "Also Sprach Zarathustra" (AKA the ''2001: A Space Odyssey'' theme).
* The ''Anime/{{Monster}}'' anime has "[[Film/TheWizardOfOz Over The Rainbow]]" played multiple times; it's even explicitly referred to as such. Except, it's instrumental and only vaguely sounds like it. The song isn't in the public domain. I don't know if the original Japanese version had this problem or not.
* [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5RprSeqWwUM This parody scene]] of ''Romeo+Juliet'' from {{Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt}} has a completely similar Jimmy Hart version of the soundtrack for the same scene, [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p7eH9qnH8TM ''I'm Kissing You'' by Desiree]].
* The chorus of the song "Cendrillon" from by Kagamine Ren sounds an awful lot like the chorus of the ''TransformersAnimated'' Japanese opening theme. Or is it the other way around?
* In ''UltraManiac'', a JHV of the theme song of ''ThePowerpuffGirls'' plays whenever Nina's cousins arrive. The creator of the manga, by the way, ''loves'' the PPG.
* In ''LightNovel/{{Bakemonogatari}}'', the song [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jl1607KKfaU Suteki Meppou]] by Kousaki Satoru has a jazzy piano chord progression and rhythm that sounds like Paul Desmond and the Dave Brubeck Quartet's ''[[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nzpnWuk3RjU Take Five]]''
* The song "HARDBOILED" off of the ''SoraWoKakeruShoujo'' soundtrack sounds like it could have been an outtake from [[PinkFloyd David Gilmour's]] solo album ''On An Island''.
* [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JYdKHsuX-ks Momiji's song]] in the ''FruitsBasket'' anime is just a few notes off from "[[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S3C5ELNQ1ek Momiji]]" (a folk song). Given the name, it's doubtful that it was a coincidence.
* ''[[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GD2xSdMaxy0 The Anger of Crimson Lotus]]'' from ''FairyTail'' sounds as if composer took Grass Theme from ''[[HeroesOfMightAndMagic Heroes of Might and Magic IV]]'', cut it in pieces, sew them randomly together, and added rock-style accompaniment over all of it.
** A little breakdown: first listen to [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I-gnjMemqdE#t=2m30s this]], then to [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c9-PsHkDbVY#t=1m36s this]], then [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c9-PsHkDbVY#t=1m36s this]], and for last one go to [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I-gnjMemqdE#t=2m30s the first part]].
** And this is far from being the only song in the soundtrack.
* LightNovel/{{Toradora}} has very short JHV of Vangelis' {{Chariots of Fire}} in episode 8, when Taiga is practicing swimming for the competition.
* There's a series of Youtube videos from a Japanese cartoon that blatantly JHVs various western rock songs. [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zei1LXw1qfU NOT "Separate Ways" By JOURNEY]], [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CvVK77gC6EU NOT "Don't Look Back" By BOSTON ]] [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JG_CyNfjUZs NOT "All You Need Is Love" by BEATLES]], [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C9yCA5uCnJo NOT "Europa" by SANTANA]], and many others. They can be found [[http://www.youtube.com/user/yusacinosh on this Youtube channel]].
