Unfortunately, he intends to do so by summoning an incredibly powerful and dangerous alien Pokémon called Eternatus to do so, making him a WellIntentionedExtremist. ** So why is Cut Man's Rolling Cutter strong against Elec Man? [[spoiler:He's literally ''cutting off'' Elec Man's power supply.]]

* The head of ''Franchise/{{Pokemon}}'''s [[TheMafia mafia-esque]] Team Rocket is named Giovanni, making him [[spoiler:Theatre/DonGiovanni]]. He also specializes in [[DishingOutDirt Ground-type]] Pokémon, as he [[spoiler:leads "underground" operations]].

** Also, Spoink and Grumpig are pig-like creatures adorned with pearls. [[spoiler:ComicStrip/PearlsBeforeSwine?]]

* Tons of them abound in the platform game ''VideoGame/{{Bug}}''. Many of the enemies are based off real-life animals, with the names taken literally.

* In the code of ''VideoGame/XenobladeChronicles3'' character genders are assigned via numbers, 0 for males and 1 for females. Juniper is assigned the number 2. Their gender is literally non-binary.

** Onix is a serpentine Pokémon made out of rocks. [[spoiler: It's either an earthworm or a rock python]].

** Starting in Generation 6, the alien-like Elgyem and Beheeyem can learn Steel Wing despite neither being Steel-type nor having wings. However, what's Steel Wing's TM number in Gens 6 and 7? [[spoiler: [[Area51 51]]]].

** Kartana is a Pokémon that looks like a samurai made out of origami with swords for arms, and it's capable of cutting through steel. [[spoiler: Paper cuts.]]
** Similarly, Celesteela's a bamboo spaceship-like Pokémon based on the legend of Kaguya, who came from the moon. [[spoiler: In Gen 7, you can only get it in Moon and Ultra Moon]].

** The foxlike Thievul's facial markings resemble [[spoiler: a Guy ''Fawkes'' mask]].

** The game has you catch Eternatus (the largest of all the Pokémon in its hand-like Eternamax form at the climax, not only saving Galar, but also supercharging the region with energy. [[spoiler: The game's giving you a ''big hand'' for saving the region]].

** Leon, the champion of the Galar region, has an Aegislash as his first Pokémon. What's Aegislash made of? [[spoiler: a Sword and a Shield]].
** Lisia is introduced in ''VideoGame/PokemonOmegaRubyAndAlphaSapphire'' as a high ranking contest coordinator and something of a pop idol as well. Despite her reputation as the best of the best, she is very supportive of the playable character and helps them out, and makes it clear that she would rather not battle with her Pokemon. While she has yet to make an appearance in the anime, her character would not be out of place there, particularly in ''Anime/PokemonTheSeriesXY'', where the performances are more similar to the game's contests than the anime's version. And that season, released in the same year as Lisia's game, happens to contain a character that fills a nearly identical role. In all aspects, much like her SignatureMon, Lisia can be considered [[spoiler:an alt-Aria]].
** The second-best ranking for making curry in ''Sword and Shield'' is Copperajah, a Steel-type Pokemon. [[spoiler:You're an Series/IronChef.]]

** ''VideoGame/PokemonScarletAndViolet'' introduces [[PreciousPuppy Fidough and its evolution Dachsbun]], who are dog Pokémon [[AnthropomorphicFood made out of bread]]. [[spoiler: They’re pure bread.]] ([[WesternAnimation/SpongeBobSquarePants Wow! A dog made out of bread!]]).

** Befriending Undyne involves attending her cooking lesson, which ends up with her house burning down. After that, the two of you get along ''like a house on fire''.

** Unlike ''Melee'' and ''Brawl'', the cross-platform fourth installment lacks a subtitle. Instead, it is simply named ''Super Smash Bros. '''for''' [=Nintendo 3DS/Wii U=]''.

** Similarly, this applies to K' (pronounced "Kay Dash") from ''VideoGame/TheKingOfFighters'', only the derivatives in question are [[CloningBlues clones]] (both the normal kind and the CloneByConversion kind), of which K' was the first subject used for experiments involving the DNA of [[PlayingWithFire Kyo Kusanagi]].

* ''VideoGame/SuperSmashBrosBrawl'' removed several characters from ''Melee'' that were (moveset-wise) clones: VideoGame/DrMario, [[VideoGame/FireEmblemTheBindingBlade Roy]], [[Franchise/{{Pokemon}} Pichu]], and [[Franchise/TheLegendofZelda Young Link]] (though the last one was replaced with ''[[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaTheWindWaker Wind Waker]]''[='s=] Toon Link, essentially changing nothing). It also removed [[CloningBlues Mewtwo]]...[[spoiler:a heavily modified clone of another Pokémon.]]

** The RandomlyGeneratedLevels and RandomDrops mean that much of the game is a LuckBasedMission. Appropriately, the game's items include a horseshoe, [[CatchAFallingStar fallen stars]], the [[EpicFlail Blue Moon]], a [[{{Balloonacy}} shiny red balloon]], [[HeartContainer hearts]], and some Rainbows (in the forms of a magical rod and a flamethrower-like gun). No [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucky_Charms clovers]], though.

* ''Franchise/AceAttorney'':
** In case 1 of ''[[VisualNovel/PhoenixWrightAceAttorney Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Trials and Tribulations]]'', when a certain character's [[BitchInSheepsClothing true nature]] is revealed, the little butterflies that surround her are incinerated by her hatred. [[spoiler:Like moths to a flame]].
** In case 2, a valuable jewel is called the "Tear of Emanon." If you don't get it, read it backwards.
** In the third case, the murder victim was a computer programmer working for a company called Blue Screens, Inc. Maya comments that it "sounds like a really stable company."
** The final case features two characters using false names with the surname "Deauxnim." Considering the series' love of {{Punny Name}}s, it's quite surprising that neither is called "Sue".
** A character's name in Japanese is also a StealthPun: her pseudonym is "Elise," but her real name is "Maiko" (one translation of which is [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Dancing_Girl_(short_story) "dancer"]]).
** The ''Franchise/AceAttorney'' series is famous for giving the characters incredibly punny names. Like Shelly de Killer, the assassin who leaves cards with the images of shells at the scene of the crime to draw suspicion from his clients. [[spoiler: The killer with the conches]].
** One potentially obscure pun can be found in the name of Max Galactica, the magician Phoenix defends in the third case of ''Justice For All''. Max is particularly fond of milk, and needs it to calm his nerves before a performance. How many players realize that the word "galactic" is defined as pertaining to milk in the first place?
** In ''VisualNovel/AceAttorneyInvestigations'', it's eventually revealed that the Yatagarasu's Key [[spoiler:has a handle that opens up to reveal a concealed knife blade. The key part has a bit shaped like a butterfly, and the way the handle opens makes it a ''literal'' [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Balisong_%28knife%29 butterfly knife.]]]]
** The second game's third case introduces us to Acro's pet monkey Money, who has a tendency to steal and stockpile shiny objects. While this causes Phoenix some early grief, the other members of the circus seem to be used to it and regard it as a harmless prank... or [[spoiler:monkeyshines]].
** It's strongly hinted that Miles Edgeworth is asexual, making him, well... [[{{Pun}} an ace attorney.]]
** ''[[VisualNovel/PhoenixWrightAceAttorneyDualDestinies Dual Destinies]]'' alludes to the ''biggest plot twist in the game'' with a silly pun. When Jinxie Tenma [[spoiler:first meets Bobby Fulbright, she says "eek! a ghost!" and slaps a curse seal on his forehead. This is bizarre, because Jinxie is afraid of ''demons'', not ghosts. But Bobby Fulbright ''is'' a ghost - also known as the phantom, the culprit of the last two cases. Not to mention the real Bobby Fulbright has been [[DeadToBeginWith dead for a year]]]].
** This plot twist also changes the meaning of [[spoiler:his catchphrase. "In justice we trust" becomes "injustice we trust"; the characters believed his facade and nearly allowed him to get away with orchestrating a severe MiscarriageOfJustice]].

* Judge Grams of ''VisualNovel/FleuretBlanc'', usually a {{Jerkass}}, has a soft spot for redheads, and her TrademarkFavoriteFood is ginger root. [[spoiler:Redheads can also be called "gingers" -- Grams does this herself at some points.]]

* In ''VisualNovel/KatawaShoujo'', the protagonist Hisao is hospitalized after a confession of love provokes his arrythmia and gives him a heart attack. The girl in question eventually breaks ties with Hisao, which is one of the many reasons he's depressed at the start of the game. In other words, Hisao's got [[spoiler:a broken heart]].
** Lilly Satou, who is blind, says "I don't see why it matters" when asked to make a name for her team in the fishing competition. Keep in mind that people often say things such as "I see" around her, only to sheepishly apologize, and she is amused by their apologies.
** In Shizune's route, in the final part of Act 3, you learn that [[spoiler:Misha]] has had [[spoiler:the thought: "wouldn't it be better if I just died?"]] Earlier in that scene, you see what she looked like last year: she's ''already'' [[spoiler:dyed]].

** It's implied that after [[spoiler: [[BearsAreBadNews Mr. Grizz]]'s defeat]] at the end of ''VideoGame/Splatoon3'', [[spoiler: ownership of Grizzco was transferred to Li'l Judd somehow, perhaps through selling it]]. A ''bear'' market is one where prices are falling and selling is encouraged.
