* ''Series/TheTwilightZone1959'': "[[Recap/TheTwilightZoneS2E64WillTheRealMartianPleaseStandUp Will the Real Martian Please Stand Up?]]" features a strange spacecraft crash-landing in a lake, and mysterious tracks leading to a nearby diner, where eight people (seven, plus the driver) who've just gotten off a bus are waiting out a snowstorm. When the cops arrive, they realize that only ''six'' people got on the bus... which means that one of the patrons is an alien shapeshifter. The suspects all proceed to run this trope through the gamut: a young couple begins looking for blemishes on each other, while the officers ask questions about who won the World Series the previous year. [[spoiler:An arrogant businessman turns out to be the alien, but he manages to elude detection by using his powers to place a phone call saying the roads are safe to travel on, which ends up killing everyone else. It's then revealed that there were ''two'' aliens in the diner--the [[TheDogWasTheMastermind nondescript waiter who served everyone]] comes from Venus, and his people will be invading shortly.]]

** During the episode when they riffed on ''Film/TheGiantSpiderInvasion'', a ([[CreepyMonotone painfully obvious]]) pod-person duplicate of Servo shows up on the ''Satellite of Love'', forcing Crow and Mike to quiz them to decide which is the real one.

--->'''Crow:''' Okay, what condiment did I pour into your sneakers only two weeks ago?\\
'''Servo:''' Oh! Ah, uh...\\
'''Pod Servo:''' Was it... ketchup.\\
'''Crow:''' Yes!\\
'''Servo:''' Damn, you ''are'' me! Gee, I guess I am a fraud...
** When Mike asks what's Servo's confirmation name, Servo and his pod duplicate ''work together'' to answer the question, but the fake is finally outed when Mike asks about Servo's [[CollectorOfTheStrange underwear collection]].

** [[Recap/DoctorWho60thASWildBlueYonder "Wild Blue Yonder"]]: The Not Things take the forms of the Doctor and Donna, partly to freak them out, and partly because if they can duplicate them ''exactly'', they hope the TARDIS will let them in instead. Attempts at this never work because the Not Things know everything the Doctor and Donna know, which doesn't stop them trying:
---> '''Donna(?)''': All right, where was I born?\\
'''The Doctor(?)''': You were born in Chiswick.\\
'''Donna(?)''': Ah, well, no. Because -- strange little fact -- I was born in Southampton.\\
'''The Doctor(?)''': All right, but ''I didn't know that''.

* A RunningGag in the pilot for ''Series/NCISSydney'' is the Australian agents calling a certain type of Navy vessel a ship and the NCIS agents automatically correcting them personnel refer to it as a "boat." So when the two teams find some supposed Navy inspectors on a sub and one says "you need to leave the ship," the Aussies instantly know something's up.

** "The Android Invasion": Sarah Jane's replaced by a robot duplicate. The Doctor gets a little suspicious because the duplicate is still wearing a scarf she'd lost, and tests it by offering soda, which Sarah Jane hates, confirming his suspicions and making him quite angry.

** As mentioned in the ''Franchise/SuperSentai'' example below, ''[[Series/PowerRangersSPD S.P.D.]]'' replicated Hoji's FreakyFridayFlip episode for his counterpart Sky. However, ''S.P.D.'' uses a different way to solve the problem: Rather than noticing various moments of Sky [[OutOfCharacterMoment acting differently from normal]], Jack threw a plastic ball for R.I.C. to catch and return to Sky because he had played fetch with R.I.C. prior in the episode.

Included a moment in "Blue Ranger Gone Bad."

** In "Blue Ranger Gone Bad", both the real and fake Billy morph into the Blue Ranger. To figure out the real one, Kimberly tells both to identify the hologram projector Billy had invented. As expected, the fake Billy mistakes it for a mirror.

** In a second season episode, Kimberly tells the real Billy apart from a copy made from a statue, by asking them to identify Billy's science project.
