Or they can be CreepyCute like Queen Chrysalis and the Changelings. While it is tempting to avoid due to causing SweetnessAversion, don't be afraid of the sugar. You can have the best, most well written show about friendship ever, but you can only get so far if your characters are hideous and unappealing. Endear your characters: be cute and warm the hearts of your audiences. It's also makes [[SugarApocalypse your subversive]] [[VileVillainSaccharineShow moments]] stand out that much more, plus it opens up more opportunities for comedy.

A show marketed towards preteen girls isn't the place for {{Gorn}} or TorturePorn, but if there's no meaningful conflict or villains, and everything is resolved by talking it out, that will make your show a boring snoozefest. Making a setting look big is... a lot easier when you just have to draw it than when you have to fly your acting crew all over the place. Probably use a lot of matte painting backgrounds, like Star Trek, if you want to do it in live action.
