* Peter Porker's animation and design looks reminiscent of the WesternAnimation/LooneyTunes. He also looks similar to Porky Pig. Even lampshaded when the Spiders return to their home dimensions. Porker's parting words are "That's all, folks!", prompting an immediate reply from Peter: "Can he say that? You know, legally?"

Shout outs have to be deliberate and intentional on the part of the creative team. Simply resembling something from another work is not sufficient. While The Incredibles humorously put no capes into the public consciousness, the problems of a costume with a cape existed long before that. See the trope Cape Snag for examples of its long history. However, in the case of spider-man, the costume with a cape is actually a nod to What If #19 that explores a world in which Peter managed to prevent the burglar from killing Uncle Ben and becomes a celebrity. In the course of this story, Spider-Man heads to a movie premiere, wearing his classic costume but has added a high-collared cape to it. Miles even draws Peter B's attention to this caped costume when they are in Blond Peter's lair so it's not an Incredibles shout out.

* The whole bit with Miles wanting a cape, only to be shot down by Peter B's physically yanking the cape off and insisting that Spider-man doesn't wear a cape is an odd scene that seems over-emphasized for such a minor detail...until you realize it's a shout-out to another group of ground-breaking animated superheroes who became famous for "NO CAPES!" -- WesternAnimation/TheIncredibles.

Shout-outs have to be deliberate. Simply resembling something from another work isn't sufficient. This entry doesn't even explain how the "tactical retreats" could be similar enough to warrant a shout-out.

%%* It's very brief, but Miles performs a tactical retreat during the ChaseScene between himself and Peter against Doc Ock.

Shout-outs have to be deliberate. Simply resembling something from another work isn't sufficient. The challenge is that both scenes are only a few seconds long so it's really hard to tell if it's an actual shout-out vs there being a limited number of ways to frame a scene where a person is in a tube of energy flying toward the camera while yelling. See discussion for more details.

according to the director, it's a reference to UsefulNotes/JackieRobinson's jersey number. It's also directly lifted from Miles' origin story, where both the lottery ball that earns him a scholarship to Brooklyn Visions, and the spider that eventually bites him and gives him his powers, are both conspicuously marked "42".

Commenting out for now pending a fix. 1) Don't bury the shout-out reference in a pothole. 2) Explain how Miles' actions are a specific shoutout to Jojos Bizarre Adventure. Don't assume the viewer will know what you mean by tactical retreat..

Mis-use: a shout-out is an intentional and deliberate reference made by the creators to something that inspired them. Simply resembling something from another work is not sufficient. Most shout-outs need some kind of Word Of God confirmation. If there's any doubt, it's probably just a coincidence.

* When Miles buys the Spider-Man costume, a mask resembling one a Monster Festival patron wore near the end of WesternAnimation/HotelTransylvania can be seen.

* Peni Parker's SP//dr robot is a cutesy, curved animal-themed mech, just like D.Va's own mech, from VideoGame/Overwatch. She's a GadgeteerGenius who likes popping snacks inside her mech, to boot.

** Peni's Western-animation-meets-anime and use of anime gags and expressions brings to mind the similarly animesque WesternAnimation/TeenTitans of the early 2000s.
** One scene has SP//dr's display depict six red dots arranged in a hexagon shape, giving it a very strong resemblance to Registeel.

I just had to see the banana gag and it took "frame by frame" in VLC to catch it. It's hard to visualize in real-time because the banana frames on not sequential but one can see the Torch Lady is simply knocked off the pedestal and not flattened.

* For a brief second in the Creator/ColumbiaPictures logo, the Torch Lady turns into Creator/JaneFonda as Film/CatBallou. This is taken directly from that film's LogoJoke. And for an even briefer second, the logo shifts to the LogoJoke from WesternAnimation/CloudyWithAChanceOfMeatballs, with the Torch Lady getting flattened by a giant banana.

Found that many reviewers mention how it reminded them of "Enter the Void" but nothing confirming that the creators were explicitly inspired by it.

* The logo and title font changes much like the title sequence in the movie Film/EnterTheVoid, and were explicitly inspired by it.

Per the definition, a Shout-Out must be deliberate on the part of the authors; simply resembling something from another work is not sufficient. This example needs some Word Of God confirmation to make it more that an audience perceived similarity. For example, the billboard is actually for "Mr. Tomato Head" but one if it's accessories is a Spider-Man mask — Spider-Spud has been a long-time member of the Mr. Potato Head toy line. Thus it's a tribute to the toy itself and not Toy Story.

* This movie makes numerous reference to works; Hero Guy Suit poster in Stan Lee's store, Mr. Tomato Head billboards, a kid playing his tablet shocked as the web sling hits their window.

* hairstyle and initial lovable-geek persona are very reminiscent of Cosima Niehaus, the team scientist in Series/OrphanBlack. Cosima being a proud lesbian who gets overt romantic and sex scenes in the series also adds to the LesYay with Aunt May in the film.
