** The episode has all kinds of references, including ''{{Hyouka}}'', ''Anime/NeonGenesisEvangelion'', ''Manga/DragonBall'', ''LightNovel/AccelWorld'', ''Manga/HunterXHunter'', ''Film/MenInBlack'' and the whole MagicalGirl genre.

** In the montage, there's a human cavalry battle where [[Videogame/SengokuBasara Nyaruko wields 6 katanas and Kuuko wields a forked lance.]]

Of course, there's a HumongousMecha series where mecha "combining" has a DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything quality, ''Anime/GenesisOfAquarion''. Hasta also has an unusually sharp sense of smell, just like Aquarion's Apollo, and he makes an absurdly long-reach love promise with Mahiro, too.
