* The whole "In Summer" part seems to be heavily inspired by ''WesternAnimation/DerSchneemann''. Also, the beach part and the idea of a melting snowman resurrected and made heat-resistant is very similar to the French animated series ''Bouli''.

* Oaken uses "ja" a lot in his sentences during his one scene, kind of like how in ''Film/{{Fargo}}'' all the small-town Minnesota characters say this like a VerbalTic.

* Throughout the movie, people keep calling the Duke of Weselton the "Duke of ''Weaseltown''." It could be a reference to ''Disney/HomeOnTheRange'' where one of Alameda Slim's guys, Wesley, is mistakenly referred to "Weasley."

* ''Literature/TheIcePalace'', written by Norwegian author ''Tarjei Vesaas'', tells the story of two girls, who seem to be BirdsOfAFeather, but the one shuts the other out, ending her life inside a vast ice construction. Coincidental parallell? Maybe, maybe not (in this book, the IcePalace itself shuts the Elsa equivalent ''in'', and when the rescue party arrives, everybody else is shut out; this is in deep contrast to Elsa shutting out everyone else in her life).
* Elsa's snow monster is nicknamed "Marshmallow" or "Marshmallow Man", possibly a reference to how he sometimes looks like the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man from ''Film/{{Ghostbusters 1984}}''.
