* KickTheSonOfABitch: When Jessica realizes that Dale Holiday is abusing in prison, she breaks into Dale's home to discover he has been collecting the jumpsuit numbers of prisoners who have "committed suicide" under his watch... [[spoiler:then turns and takes a face-full of Mace from Dale. Dale then starts beating her with a nightstick, gleefully taunting her that he can kill her in "self-defense"... and she gets a lucky shot in, killing him instantly. * AdaptationalFriendship: Her close friendship with Hellcat (Patsy Walker) is exclusive to the series. In the comics the characters have never met, and Jessica was friends with Carol Danvers instead. This was probably done because Carol Danvers was tied up with the movie portion of the Franchise/MarvelCinematicUniverse. It arguably expanded the dramatic possibilities of the Jessica Jones character, as Patsy is almost like a stepsister for her, while comic book Jessica was not as close even with her best friend Carol.

This is Just For Fun and not a trope

* SuperWeight: Most of the characters are on the low side.
** Jessica herself is an Abnormal Weight. She has enhanced strength, faster healing (without an actual healing factor) and super-jumping abilities. Her durability is greatly enhanced: she's resistant but not immune to gunshots, and she shows no reaction at all to being tasered. She's also as light as a slender woman, so she's easily tossed around.
** Luke Cage is a Super Weight. In addition to his impervious skin, he also has super strength.
** Kilgrave is a Super Weight, and potentially slipping into Hyper Weight by the end of the series. While he's physically a normal human, his powers would enable him to be a full blown PersonOfMassDestruction were he so inclined.
** Will Simpson is an Iron Weight, being a former Special Ops soldier and trained police officer, slipping up to Abnormal Weight with the use of his performance enhancing drugs to put him on par with Jessica when she's got a couple broken ribs slowing her down.
** Trish Walker is a Muggle Weight in the process of working her way up to Iron Weight throughout the series.

* StylisticSuck: Trish's "I Want Your Cray Cray" music video from her short-lived music career, a throwback to heavilyy autotuned, cookie-cutter 2000s era pop music. It's so terrible that the one nice thing Jessica can say about it is, "Well it got the It's Patsy theme song out of my head, so there's that."

Mentioned here. This trope doesn't exist.

* MurderByProxy: In "AKA Pray for My Patsy" Jeri Hogarth, wanting to take revenge on Inez and her boyfriend-cum-accomplice Shane, buy a gun on the BlackMarket from Turk and then give it to Inez along with revelations about how Shane has other girls on the side. After Inez's confrontation with Shane turns murderous, Jeri calls the police on Inez, presumably leading her to be arrested for murder.

** Jessica's high-school crush on Peter Parker has been cut out due to Jessica being in her mid-thirties in this series, while Peter is still in high school at the time of his debut in Film/CaptainAmericaCivilWar. More to the point, Spider-Man wasn't part of the MCU when the show was first written, as the deal between Sony and Marvel wouldn't happen until later.

* IntoxicatedSuperpowerSnag: Jessica learns that Kilgrave had to have a kidney transplant after being hit by a bus and insisted on remaining conscious throughout the operation. From this, she realizes that Kilgrave can't maintain the use of his powers while under the influence of surgical anaesthesia, which would shut down the parts of his brain responsible for controlling his slaves. In the episodes that follow, Jessica sets out to obtain drugs in order to safety capture him, and in "AKA The Sandwich Saved Me," she and Simpson are able to successfully abduct Kilgrave without any brainwashed pawns interfering. [[spoiler: Unfortunately, Kilgrave planned ahead by legitimately hiring a group of mercenaries to guard him, so their allegiance doesn't change while his powers are on the fritz. Consequently, he's rescued almost immediately, allowing him to recover the use of his powers in private.]]

* DiligentHeroSlothfulVillain: Alcoholic and self-destructive though she may be, once Jessica Jones has a mission, she's determined to pursue it even if it means devoting huge swathes of her time, pushing her super-strength to the limit, or putting herself at serious risk -- even personally retrieving a body from the bottom of Manhattan harbour in an attempt to clear Hope Schlottman's name. Kilgrave, the BigBad of season one, is a PsychopathicManchild with a CompellingVoice that allows him to control just about anyone and exploits it in order to live a life of endless self-indulgence while his brainwashed minions do literally everything for him. Jessica escaped his control after spending months as his SexSlave and bodyguard, but Kilgrave still feels entitled to her and forces her to return to him through a mixture of emotional manipulation and shameless hostage-taking.
